Print extraordinary creations with the Turnigy X5S 3D Printer. The significant advantage of the Turnigy X5S Printer is that it keeps the gantry light by moving the motors to the frame, ensuring less backlash and over run. This means that the head can accelerate quickly and change direction fast with much less effect on the print than traditional methods. Perfect for PLA printing, you can create spare parts, sculptures, artworks and more with this powerful printer.

Control the machine and access the menu features by using the rotary knob and LCD display. The simple, effective layout ensures the printer is easy to use and set up on a work bench or at the office. Whether it's a part time hobby, used for printing RC replacement parts or office prototypes - the Turnigy X5S Printer is a fantastic 3D printing tool.

TronXY X5S at the best price but...disappointing

Dec 14, 2019

For the money its the best price you'll find on a X5S(OEM by TRONXY) but Hobby King should have investigated the flaws in this model.
GT2 Belt system is shabby at best. The stacked idler pulleys have no way to free spin due to the design. The Acrylic Motor mounts and Pulley mounts do not handle the required tension . Usually snapping off the extrusion and flying. You tube has several videos.
The power supply provided is not strong enough to heat the hot bed to proper temps. Again check youtube for x5s upgrades.
All that said, if you do the research this is the cheapest way to get into HyperCube CNC Mods. Seriously.
But be prepared to buy aluminium motor mounts or go to thingiverse and have a x5s upgrade kit printed up. Either of these need to be done before you build it. Or else you will be disappointed.
Also you may as well look at thicker aftermarket pulleys , the 5mm belting is no es bueno. Look into actual Gates branded belting and in a larger width.
Or better, a linear slide system.
If HK had looked at the X5SA for a base it would have been better purchase. But like I said, for what I am looking at doing based on a hypercube in theory, its the best way to start.

Love it!

After some trial and error and taking my time building this 3d printer, I love it! I did print a few upgrade parts and replaced some of the stock x and y axis. But after those were replaced and newer higher quality bearings, this works great!

Good starting point, but plan on upgrades to make decent prints.

This turnigy X5S 3D printer quality is about what you pay for. Assembly is fairly straight forward for someone with average technical ability. Some components seem a bit cheap and on the stiff side ( rollers ), some components are just plain cheap ( linear bearings), and failed within the first five hours needing replacement.
In hindsight, I wish I had spent the extra $73 and purchased the TRONxy X5SA with upgraded processor and control board as well as auto leveling, filament detection...
Many parts will be replaced/upgraded, but overall a good starting platform to customize to a great 3D printer.

You get what you pay for.

Let me start by saying I’m not sorry I bought this printer. If you intend to purchases one, keep in mind the following.
This seems to be a prototype that the manufacture (Tronxy) said good enough.
The instructions are poor.
Things not covered:
Belt tension. If you try tightening the belts one at a time, you will tweak the frame. The belts must be tighten together.
Adjusting the print head rollers. The bottom wheel can be moved up or down by turning the hex spacer connecting it to the frame. You might need to loosen the bolt to do this and entails taking the extrude block off.
Parts:
There are no flat and few lock washers provided.
The acrylic parts break, particularity where they mount to the aluminum extrusions. This happens after they have been bolted on for a few days. Since I had a 3D printer already, I was able to make replacement parts.
The wires on the power supply are too small of a gauge. The will heat up during use. The same goes for the wires on the bed heater.
The bed will not get hot enough for anything but PLA. The heater need at least 15 and up to 24 volts instead of 12.
The extruder clogs easily. The extruder barrel should be replaced.
I've printed a test cube out of PLA (using the software I currently have, not what came with it) and it came out good and the size was correct. When I get everything adjusted, it should be a fine printer.

Wow it's big with lots of screws!

Nov 08, 2018

Ok this is NOT for the beginner and checking everything as I built it I ran into a few problems like a bearing block that was stuck which so far I have not used and a sticky linear bearing which I worked on and is ok. It takes more than three hours to put together and pausing the instruction video was a real pain. Then when it's all together things are a bit tight and it takes some running to get everything loosened up so that it prints round things round. I still need to deal with the heated bed and the overly cooled heatsink on the extruded. But all in all a great deal and can print big stuff really well. It is amazing how they got the X Y belts to move the extruder in a straight line but they did!
