This thing is a vicious little crap: just try to change the axle ( one spare provided... great!) the screws are glued so is the axle! (what tool for the screws? I tought I had about all of them....).
I never had a chance to run the motor for I was so mad that I hammered the dmn thing to death to the garbage!
Pierre. Engineer.I got this motor in a nice acrylic box which is basically useless. If HK invest packing cost into quality then we all can get better quality products. There was a label on the box saying 120W, but this is overrated, this motor can go safely upto 80 to 90W with 3S setup.I had a really hard time finding a prop that would fit on the prop saver. The prop saver is integrated in to the motor bell and is not removable. Since I couldn't find a propeller to fit the prop saver, I ended up trying to push the shaft forward to use the screw on adapter that is included, and is really nicely machined. I disassembled the motor, took out the pins and screws and on the first very light tap on the shaft the bell housing cracked and deformed, ruining the motor. I really don't like the design of the integrated prop saver and having the prop shaft run in to your airplane.
Great little motor. plenty of power with a 8x4 propp on a foamy. Just to clarify - the axle CAN be pushed - BUT - you will need a vice, and the lockclamps are brittle and can break - and don't forget to remove the two screws that hold the shaft in place. Have done the procedure on two of these motors without problems. The only downside is that the shaft is fairly soft - and once bent will snap if you try to realign it - and there are no spares in EU warehouse. But still exellent varlue for moneyThis is an all around great motor. I use these motors on a quadcopter with an AUW of 620grams. The motors pull about 3.6A each at hover with plastic 8X4.8 props. The motors have an excellent amount of punch.
Be sure to check the motors carefully before using them. The motors use heat shrink tubing to protect the wires from rubbing against the housing. The heat shrink tubing on one motor was not properly shrunk and worked it's way out of the motor during flight.
Also be aware that there is no strain relief on the wires. Any vibrations on the wires will likely cause the wire to break at the windings. You must securely fasten the wires to prevent vibration. Apply some epoxy where the wires exit the motor housing or secure the wires close to the motor.otimo motor forte e bom desenvolturaThe motor construction looks very good and this motor comes recommended by the Flitetest guys for their scratch built system. However I have two issues.
1. The prop saver boss is 5.5mm diameter which is not a common size for propeller adapters. Certainly none of the props I've bought from Hobbyking have come with one.
2. I pressed the shaft through so I could use the supplied collet adapter There's a video about how to do this using a vice. Don't do it with a hammer! The collet was machined so out of true it wobbles half a millimetre back and forth when you spin it.I bought this to use on my tricopter, and after after a few flights everything works beautifully.Nice motor, not only for multicopters, but also for homemade foamies.
It performs great on my nutball for example.
However, I fail to change the default alloy prop saver.
I can not move the prop shaft either.
Both of them seems to be sealed to the motor...
If someone has a solution...I bought 4 of these motors to use on a small quadcopter but found that the propsaver is too large for any standard prop, as in the hole in the middle of the propeller is too small, also the screw provided didn't suit ANY metric or inch allen wrench.... so i had to spend more money buying philips head M2 screws... I didn't want to bore out all my props so i pushed the shafts through, note, this is a pain and i bent two of the 4, the shafts seem weak and the whole assembly despite using the most precise method i could, still managed to band the can so that not the shaft but the motor can is off center?! -
