The XFLY A-10 Thunderbolt II is a small, scale twin-EDF model of the iconic US Air Force close attack fighter that is perfect for flying in smaller areas such as local parks, sports fields, etc. The full-size A-10 Thunderbolt affectionately known as the "Warthog", was mainly used for close air support for ground troops and armored vehicles. It was highly maneuverable due to its large ailerons, was very tough and durable, could take a lot of punishment, and it "pièces de résistance" was the Gatling gun mounted in the nose. The actual airframe was designed around this high-powered 30mm gun, it was one of the most powerful guns ever fitted to a plane and could fire up to an amazing 4,200 rounds per minute.
XFLY has used the same care and attention, quality components, and materials that they use on their larger and more sophisticated models to produce the A-10, so it is still manufactured to the same high standards that you have come to expect from XFLY. The A-10 is manufactured in lightweight, but tough EPO foam, and is supplied complete with twin 50mm 12-blade EDF fan units, twin 2627-4600KV motors, twin 40A ESC, and 4 x 9g digital servos. The 4S-compatible power system delivers an abundance of power for excellent thrust, loads of speed, and an incredible turbine-like sound. The strong landing gear supplied is fixed with a steerable nose gear, but due to the very stable flight characteristics of the A-10, it is quite happy being hand-launched with the landing gear removed. This takes it to the next level with even more speed and excellent vertical performance.
The model is made from very tough, lightweight EPO foam and is beautifully finished in a grey color scheme of the US Air Force. Assembly is quick and simple, there is a small amount of gluing to do on the tail components, but the rest is simply screwed together.
The XFLY A-10 Thunderbolt is perfect for intermediate and experienced pilots who want a small, lightweight model that is maneuverable, aerobatic, and fun to fly in small areas. It looks great in the air and on the ground, is smooth and stable in flight, and has excellent handling qualities.
