In 2012, MIT Mechanical Engineering graduate Charles Z. Guan and robot builder Adam Bercus founded a collaborative project entitled Equals Zero Designs.
While their main focus is on robotics, electric mobility systems, and mechatronics, their primary target is a hobbyist and educational market. Their Overhaul robot, which is proudly sponsored by HobbyKing, will return and be featured in the new season of ‘BattleBots’ once again, which is set to return this spring on Discovery and Science Channel. 
For those who don’t remember ‘Battlebots’ was a show where homemade robots go head-to-head, in a battle known as Robot Combat Sports. The show originally aired on Comedy Central from 2000 to 2002 before it was revived by ABC in 2015-2016. Of the series, co-founder of the show Ed Roski said “ In BattleBots, anyone can be the champ, and all are welcome to apply. This is a sport for smart people where it's all about ideas and building something cool.
BattleBots is a fight to the death, but no one gets hurt. It’s the place to show off your imagination, your engineering prowess and art, and your ability to make it survive." As mentioned, it has now been picked by the Discovery Network (Discovery & Science Channel) for a fresh new season. Marc Etkind, general manager at Science Central shared that "BattleBots is the perfect union between cutting-edge science and entertainment," before adding "having heard the call from robot fans clamoring for more action, we are thrilled to bring back this iconic series." The Discovery Network’s website boasts that audiences can expect to see “sparks flying and robots dying”.
