Pilot not secured in cockpit, exposed servo wires on the bottom of the wing because of missing tape. Both easy to sort but a slightly better quality control is required.

The good and the bad

This is a beatiful model with good detail and it is very easy to build. It took me less than 4 hours to finish. The most time consuming part was putting on the decals. The weakest part of this model are the ball links; they break very easily. My biggest disappointment is the size of the model in relation to its high cost. There are also no extra propellers in stock so this may be a problem if it noses over (as most warbirds do from time to time) and breaks a blade.

Plane looks decent, and parts go together well enough. Quality of glue is lacking as out of the box my pilot was rolling around in the cockpit.
Retracts are the weakest part. They are wobbly when locked and stopped responding after a handful of cycles. Plane has not even seen the sky yet. No response from HobbyKing on a repair so...

Good looking, well flying warbird with some flaws

This warbird looks great, fly well and has some minor flaws - spare part availability being one: Spinner, scale prop, gear retracts - no ETA.
The scale details are impressing, even if this is not my personal top priority. It flies well even though the takeoffs requires some technique to master yaw and torque roll tencencies - the ailerons are scale like and don´t provide a lot of authority at low speed.
Issues:
Tail wheel assy is crap. Needed grinding on metal part to make it possible to align. Fragile - easily breaks. Mounting fork to small for tire (or tire to big diameter) results in brake friction.
Retractable landing gear. Looks cool but comes with challenges for ground handling due to the scale small and thin wheels. The mechanisms are low quality, 3mm wheel easily comes loose in retract mechanism and needs fastening - but then the lock screw threads gave up. The internal gear mechanism motor controller failed on me, probably to internal short circuit caused by sub standard soldering work, as it looks. No spare retract mechanisms in stock - and no ETA. Special made with regards to retract angle so generic gear retract will not cut it.
The fully operational bomb drop feature is fun. But the bomb nose will break after one or two drops - it is not made to withstand the impact. I have 3D printed reinforcements for the nose party of the bomb and then it works fine.
Can I recommend it? Well yes, the day HK have spare parts back in stock - because even experienced pilots may end up needing spare parts.

First time ever buying a plane without a instruction manual being included. Should not have to download it. Also had to lightly trim the edge on one aileron so it wouldn't catch. Not even going to bother with the little circuit board for flaps/gear/ailerons/lights and will just use Y connectors since I have an 8 channel receiver.

tail wheels is unadjustable and prop is brittle. model is very nice and scale. it flys ok with all the throw angle adjusted.

Probably the best molded foam model quality you can buy. I will definitely consider another Durafly model
