Great Plane

Arrived with no damage and nicely packed. Usual Durafly quality with easy assembly. Updated ESC to a 65A Dualsky and 7x3 MA prop as per Aussie RC Playground flight review. Interesting that my dolly wasn't completely painted so no sanding. I think the end of the dolly that sits inside the fuselage could be extended as it does pop out very easy on a slightly bumpy grass runway which makes it a very challenging lift off and tends to reduce the dia of your prop. Once up in the air though the Komet is an absolute blast. I found I preferred high rates on the elevator with low rates on the ailerons. Landing is an absolute breeze with a very stable glide slope with slight throttle only required if needed. Using a cnhl 4S 40c. Would definitely recommend

I have had the red one for years but recently I picked up this one on sale. I am a sucker for the green Camo! This thing is a screaming machine and everybody at the field makes a little poo - poo on low fast flyovers. Definitely a crowd pleaser and really fun to fly. I have a few complaints. The 4S battery needs to be very slim to fit under the carbon rod that goes between the wings and I really don't like that it didn't come with the undercarriage drop option. When this thing comes off the trolley it is hard to predict which way it will go. How about re-stocking the optional servo release? Better to flyover and drop it like the old red one. Way to cheap out on the pilot also. Otherwise terrific!

No Pilot

Be aware this model comes without the pilot, despite all the photos showing one. Also, HK are unable to supply one. Just worth knowing.

HK: It is clearly mentioned in the web copy that the pilot is no longer supplied.

Awesome little plane, the rocket motor option is pretty neat, they only run about $9 for 3 at Hobby Lobby so $3 per I find quite worth the money, to me anyway. Love RC planes with gimmicks especially one that adds such realism to the model in flight! Hoping Durafly puts out some dolly servos again, I know can adapt one but I'm a completist and love to have all the stock parts, wish Durafly still included it like they did the red version 1.

Nice plane, poor support

First, the aircraft is terrific, it flies really well and the rocket assist is a real crowd pleaser. The rocket motors are expensive and change the CG quite a bit when installed, remember to compensate for that. The 2200 mAh 4s packs work great but I have flown mine on 1800 mAh 3s pack as well, much lighter flying weight and still good performance. The electronic unit can be had from other sources. Do not over tighten the spinner screw, it will crack the spinner. On takeoff the landing gear will end up somewhere on the runway so you will need a helper to run out and get it. Best takeoff is from a smooth surface, a bumpy surface may bounce the wheels off too soon and you will break the prop. Watch the excellent video here!

Set-up for control surfaces

I set the elevator to full 100% throw, the ailerons on 70%.
this gave me better take off control.

Take off is a challenge and the motor. It pulled badly to the left. The motor was pointed quite a bit left but otherwise once in the air was easy to fly and very stable at all speeds
