I have installed the Flymentor in a 30 size helicopter with .36 glow engine and can report that it works just fine with nitro as well as electric. To avoid first flight problems, I made up a 'Lazy Susan' type turntable out of scrap chipboard, to tether the heli for testing, setting up tail gyro and getting TX sticks to operate in correct sense - well worth the effort.
Set the Flymentor to manual mode to get the tail rotor working properly in Normal and Heading hold modes, with aileron and elevator sticks functioning correctly - then switch Flymentor to Positioning mode and/or leveling mode to confirm that these settings work to correct movements rather than make them worse, (reverse controls with Helibal, if necessary). Then you are good to go.
Flymentor is a super bit of kit and well worth the money. I installed Helibal on an old laptop running Windows XP, so no problems, but until Helibal is compatible with Windows 10, buying the programmer is a good way to go.this system is challenging to set up but its about the same as setting up a flybarless system. i was only able to get the program to run with vista, thankfully i had an old computer. the programming box is a must. once set up it manages my heli nicely and is a valuable tool for progressing your skills while minimizing crash repair costs.I have been totally amazed with Flymentor, so very easy to install, setup and fly.
I actually use this in my frenzy as it has a lot of add ons and often have to study my tx to make sure i selecting the correct switch and this allows me to take my eyes off the heli and it doesn't fall out the sky.
I got a little confused in the setup on the tail servo, settings tell you to have everything set to 0 or off (trims etc) and servo reverse all at normal, then you set all sub-trims, reverse etc in Flymentor.
This did not work on the tail, if I left tx on normal it actually worked the rud in the correct direction but the gyro worked in reverse!
I pulled my hair out (whats left of it) and then finally realised if I Rev Rudd on tx and then on FM then all worked well.
Brilliant peice of kit and will save you its value in crash parts the first time someone taps you on the shoulder or crashes into with an FG marder while your flying, thanks james, near broke my leg but FM saved my heli.
Thumbs up.Hi, IMPORTANT before you start your installation! read your manual and use the file " Correct wiring for the Flymentor " there is an error in the manualI read many complaints about this product .. but the truth is that if the configuration of your helicopter is well aligned .. Flymentor works well, it is true that there are many more complete systems, but for $ 70 you can not ask for more. works well with wind and almost gets lost maneuvers .. I recommend .. but have much patience when set. There are many videos explaining how to do

lei muchas quejas sobre este producto.. pero la verdad es que si la configuracion de tu helicptero esta bien alineada.. flymentor funciona bien, es verdad que hay otros sistemas muchos mas completos, pero por 70 dolares no se puede pedir mas. funciona bien con viento y recupera de maniobras casi perdidas.. lo recomiendo.. pero tengan mucha paciencia al momento de configurarlo. hay muchos videos explicando como hacerlo

finaly got my hk450gt set up and flying . the addition of this product made flying a better experience.I learned to set up heli properly & set up flymentor in one whack. keep up the good work Hobby King. my only complaint is set up didn't work on my pc. would suggest buying programmer, makes set up a lot more easy.If u dont like simulators, Flymentor is best choice in this price.

the USB connection works fine. :-(I bought this stabilizer some time ago for my hk500, being new to heli`s and especially components like this I had a bit of a nightmare setting it up, I had the gyro reversed in the program which I didn't know at the time and when testing on spool up as soon as the tail moved a little, the gyro would compensate for this, but the wrong direction. this cause the heli to spin massively out of control. this was no fault of the flymentor but was my own fault.
as soon as I put things right, the flymentor responded exactly how it should, so top marks from me. a very valuable component for a bargain price..It works, excellent for new pilots. But, you need an experienced mechanic to set up the program, to dial in, to work with the swash plate. You would think they could provide better instructions, so be prepared to spend hours of trial and error fumbling through the installation. Search the blogs for more help. The instructions provide about 40pcnt of what you need to know, and very little about what the settings actually do. Almost as if the guy who wrote the instructions did not know what the settings do and how they actually effect the handling in flight??? Also, the camera position hold is not the reason to buy it. The hovering position hold is poor. It's worth buying because of the price and that it really does stabilize the helicopter and make it feel like a fixed pitch. At this price, I will be buying a few more of these units. It's a must for new pilots. -
