Mittlerweile ist meine Gee Bee flugfertig, aber noch nicht geflogen. Leider mu ich im nachhinein meine euphorische Bewertung revidieren. Es mu fast alles berarbeitet werden, insbesondere das Fahrwerk, da pro Seite mit einem winzigen Hartholzblock gehalten werden soll. Einer ist beim vorsichtigen Hinstellen herausgebrochen! Das heit dann oeffnen der Flaeche.... Weiters ist das Hartholz fr die Flaechenaufnahme vorne im Rumpf schief eingeklebt, da bohrt man dann nur in GFK. Fr das falsche Seitenruder kein Ersatz, aber ich habe bonus points bekommen. Wer mehr wissen will: brezel53-at-freenet(dot)de. Fr einen Modellbauer alles kein Problem, aber zustzlicher Aerger und Zeitaufwand. Fr Gee Bee R2 Fans ein Mu, es gibt keine andere neu auf dem Markt....

I ordered the GeeBee R2 from the USA warehouse and accepted the $80 shipping costs as the price for shipping a large box from Oregon to Georgia. An order was also placed for the engine from China. This kit has a very nice glass fuse, cowling, wheel pants and well built wing and tail. The moveable rudder, hardware, landing gear and instructions are awful.

I used the recommended RCGF 30 cc engine, also from HobbyKing along with their 18X8 prop. The engine has been an absolute joy to run and fits the GeeBeeR2 very well.

Today was the first flight. The instructions do have a CG indicated at 80mm which is close to 25pcnt of the chord. All up mine weighs 12.5 lbs. it flies very well but requires considerable expertise on take off and landing. At low speeds it has a vicious snap and mine rolls right on a stall. The first landing was too slow. The landing stall caused minor cosmetic damage but it did convince me to land faster next time.

Overall it is a beautiful plane that requires skill and vigilance to fly well. Pretty much what Delmar Benjamin said about the real one.

This is a great model, could be the greatest Gee Bee for this price, but beware, the rudder is crap (faulty design), too thin, too small, not like on the sales page. I complained this, Hobby King promised me a replacement part. I tell about it here, if it comes true... i don`t think so...waiting for months. Otherwise good quality, i bought this Gee Bee again. Model flyers like spare planes... ;-)

Sehr schnes Modell, knnte fr diesen Preis die beste Gee Bee sein, aber das Seitenruder ist so nicht verwendbar!!! Es ist zu dnn, zu kurz, sieht berhaupt nicht wie im Angebot aus. Ich habe das reklamiert und mir wurde ein Ersatzteil versprochen. Ich werde das hier posten, sobald ich das Teil bekomme. Ansonsten sehr gute Qualitt, wrde und werde mir die Gee Bee nochmal kaufen. Modellflieger mgen ja Ersatzflieger.... ;-)

The quality of this product ranks as top of the line IMO. My only complaint is there's no manual or any docs whatsoever. I didn't even get the pictures. It seems to be the way now for the Chinese manufacturers to save a few bucks but at least put the thing online so we can download it. No dice. If you have a lot of ARF experience you can probably figure it out but if you don't you would be well advised to stay away from this offering.

I recently got this model, very nicely done, all hardware is included

What bothers me is haw its made the rudder,

otherwise I can not wait to go fly.

Well, it arrived in one piece which is always a good start. Yes, the quality of the fibreglassing is excellent and yes, the undercarriage is pretty pathetic but if you want Robart quality struts, get your wallet out. I see there are a few complaints about the quality of the instructions. Well hey, stop moaning - at least you got some! I've built dozens of planes, so putting this together shouldn't be any different. It's a Gee Bee after all. What could possibly go wrong? No, my big disappointment with this model is the rudder. At first I thought some guy in the Chinese factory was having a bad day and stuck a third aileron in there by mistake, but I was wrong. As is the rudder. Wrong shape, wrong thickness, wrong everything. Send me a new one HobbyKing and you'll be back in my good books. Send me the one I ordered. Send me the one in the picture above!

Just received this plane and it looks good. It did not come with a manual as I see others have had the same problem. The push rods were missing but the pushrod ends were in the hardware package. I can,t seem to get a hold of the customer service group so can not inform them of the problem. I like the kit and the workmanship is very good. One other problem is that there is not markings for the pusrod exits on the fuse. I notice Great Planes Gee Bee has markings on the fuse just below the horiz stab to cut out for pushrod exits. Any suggestions?
