A beautifully detailed model by Roco/Fleischmann in HO scale of a 2 piece tipping bucket wagon set as used by the Deutsche Bundesbahn. The lower body frame is breached (disrupted) and all the strutting is authentically reproduced. The tipping buckets are loaded with crushed stone and each bucket can be used separately. The couplings are to the NEM 355 standard with KK-kinematics close coupling mechanism.
From 1951 onwards the DB bought around 4,000 tipping bucket wagons type Ommi 51 (designated F-z 120). They were mainly used in blocktrains for the transportation of heavy bulk goods such as sand, gravel and crushed stone. Every tipping bucket has a cargo area of 22sq metres which was small compared with the UIC Std wagon which had 36sq metres. The tipping buckets are tiltable from both sides and the load can be emptied directly into other containers. To tip, the support bar is unlocked on the opposite side, the bucket returns automatically to the center position when empty.
