Nice combo. Upgraded my Kyosho Dirt Hogs original combo with this one. What a difference! Got myself totally new car! I've bashed in snow and -10 celsius. At least engine and esc does not get too hot :)

So after letting it sit for a night, and trying out. This engine is solid, I think it may have just been a fluke, some water and dust may have got in a certain way to cause it to be really loud, it works fine now. This engine has really stood up too a lot of runs on 3s.

So I have had this setup in my 2WD Traxxas Slash, and here are my findings;

The Good: The throttle control on this setup is very good considering its not sensored. This setup is also very fast, I was able to get to 50mph, with 23T Pinion gear and a 78T Spur gear. With this gear setup, the truck was temping at 140-150 F (these were on 90F days) after each 3s 11.1v 5500 Mah pack that I was putting through it, which is a sweet spot temp.

The Bad: So after a little more than a month (probably about 30 packs, specs of the pack in the paragraph above), the motor started to get really loud under throttle, the engine when pulled out of the truck sounded like a dentist drill, I checked out the transmission of the truck, everything seemed smooth and quiet, I swapped in another one of my motors, and the noise was gone. This is the 2nd one of these "latest" generation engines that did this to me, the other one being a 13.5 TrackStar Outlaw that I had in a Team Associated SC5M. I really liked the previous gen 13.5 sensored TrackStar motors, and never had any issues with those ever, so I am not trying to be hard on TrackStar.

Overall, I got a solid month out of it, it was a blast to drive. I did drive this engine hard, but within the limits of recommended temps, under 160. There was no timing on this engine.

No complaints, my Redcat blackout XTE wheelies off the line, got a 3s 5000mah with it.
All functions 1-9 can be set by holding the set button on power-on and listening to the beeps... no need for additional controller tuner card... had to lower a bit since it might break the spur gear...
My first brushless on a truck and does the job, no heat that i've noticed and runs too fast to top out as the tires will balloon at high speed
It does makes some noise and stutters at initial super low throttle but its no big issue for me. since its sensorless, nice combo super happy with it.

Very good combo for Quanum Vandal XL. Much more power, much faster and with 3s Lipo or LiFePo4 nearly uncontrollable.

Bought this power system a week ago to replace a Titan 550 that burned out. It runs great. I used it in my 1/10th short course truck on a 6 cell NIMH and it went from 0 to 25 mph in 15 ft. Definitely a great upgrade from brushed. Its a powerful brushless system, the programming is easy with the button on the ESC. Great value, great product, very happy.
