Accessories

The Turnigy H.A.L. (Heavy Aerial Lift) Hexcopter Frame is crafted from high quality anodized aluminium offering both great looks and performance. The H.A.L. has been designed in-house by our engineering team and manufactured ourselves to keep costs low. We set out to create an aerial video platform that would provide high performance at a price that won't break the bank, and we have achieved that goal!

The extended heavy-duty alloy lading skids and wide variety of motor mounting options make this frame ideal for carrying payloads such as camera systems and other electronic components. This makes an exceptional camera rig for capturing awesome aerial video!

The H.A.L. also features a stylish removable dome to protect the electronics and provide a tidy look on the main frame. We have even designed an optional aluminium landing skid set for those who do not plan to use this frame for aerial video (see related items below).

H.A.L's motor mounting plates allow for top or bottom mounting of 28 and 35 size brushless outrunner motors. We also offer a full line of quality multi-rotor electronics such as multi-rotor control board, ESC, motors and more, so there is no need to compromise on your electronics setup either!

There have been some complaints about parts being to tight and people having problems getting the fittings together. I suggest you taking your time and fitting these tight parts on the landing gear with a file the tubing is not seamless and you need to file off the weld where the parts fit together make a sanding bit by cutting a slice in the end of a steel rod put some sandpaper in the slot, chuck it in a drill and clean out the fittings mine slid nicely together and can easily be disassembled. I wish the arms were carbon fiber tubes and someday they will be great product can't wait to see it fly.

Good solid machine, the weight is more than made up by its robust design, it's taken a lot of hard " landings" during software development and only bent a skid. The landing gear did require a slight rebore by .5mm to fit properly. Only worry is the lack of spares here, maybe hobbyking will supply if asked- guess I will find out eventually .....

Well, I am not satisfied of this product, the booms don't fit properly into the pieces, bad quality screws, motor mounts don't have marks to align properly motors, and once mounted the motors can still turn a little ...
The frame is very heavy (close to 1Kg) and the booms are a little flexible.
Sorry HK, but my previous purchases were more worthy.
I hope you are going to bring a new better version.

I would not call this a heavy lift. The plastic used to mount the arms crack very easy and the arms wiggle causing poor flight. I didn't get 3 flights in before I bent one of the arms into the shape of an S. Here is the good thing about this frame. I went down to the local hardware store and bought an 8 foot long aluminum square tubing and cut it into 6 parts for arms. They fits perfectly with the frame. It's now rock solid and I have flown over a hundred flights. Hobby King should sell the arms I made for this frame.

Here is a video of the flight and rebuild. Don't try auto tune on this frame with ArduPilot.

this has no Battery Mount Plate with this so you have to pay more out , it don't have any were to even mount the Battery, it is a good build but just the frame is very heavy, advert says Optional 3-axis camera gimbal/mount, yes but it will be hard to fit this because the landing gear is not the same as the quad hel version , and it would not just bolt on as easy
because you will have to make part to fit it to this frame , good frame, nice looking, easy to build, but disappointed because of the missing Battery Mount ,and no where to put the Battery

This frame is really amazing. For this price you cannot badmouth anything. It is very stable and you can repair nearly everything and if not there are sereval spare parts available. I had some bad crashes, but the main plate is very well protected and never got damaged. If you buy this kit, don't forget to grab enough spare parts too (Tubes, motor holders and yellow tube holders)! It has very much space for own ideas or a camera. The skids length is no problem for advanced pilots. Putting this kit together can be disappointing, but with WD40 and a file everything will be fine. In the end you will be pleased!

Yet to fly this but I am sure it will be awesome. Build like a tank but not as heavy as it looks. Quite an achievement to put together - As usual, the instructions are crap with no order of operation. 1) You really do have to work out if you want a x or plus config, then mount the legs first. 2) Mount the arms but before tightening up all the nuts, screw in the self-tappers. 3) Motor mounts can be last.
