Very good ESC, but there is no programming possibility as programming cards are not on sale

One problem with this ESC - regardless of the setting it has a starting problem with FC 28-05 Brushless Outrunner 2840Kv. The starting is not reliable (a lot of high pitch squeaking and sputtering for 2-3 seconds) and the motor starts average 1 of 3 times. The same motor starts smooth with TURNIGY Plush 25amp Speed Controller. I'm switching over to TURNIGY ESC, as I never had a single problem with any of 5 of them that I have.

Very good and cheap spead controller. But be carefull - you can't set anything without Towerpro N20 and L40 Programming Box! I use it with Turnigy 2213 motor at about 17 A current.

Additional note about motor st

Nov 14, 2007

I've been running this ESC for over 2 months now in A-10 EDF (twin) with B2435-4040 (I received it instead of ordered HXT2435-4040). Both ESC keep the same rpm through entire throttle range (what is important on twin). The startup is strange (like I wrote before) but it is actually cool.

ESC needs no more than 1ms pulse with to arm. Then it needs fast throttle advance to start (to about 1.2ms or more). At the startup procedure motor revs a little and then slows down. It is like starting a car. After startup if throttle goes below 1.2ms motor will stop and ESC will not start it any more until it is "rearmed" again (pulse width must be no more than 1ms).

In my A-10 I programmed "idle down" (Futaba 8US) as a motor cut-off switch. When the throttle stick is at low position and idle is down the radio transmits 1ms pulse that will arm both ESC. Then I flip the "idle up" switch and this increases the pulse to about 1.2ms At the flip of that switch both motors start, rev up a little and than stay at idle speed. The plane is ready to taxi and flying. During the flight if I move the throttle stick to the lowest position both motors are still running at idle. After landing I flip the "idle down" switch again and motors will stop.

TowerPro n20 Brushless Speed C

Nov 14, 2007

n20 brushless speed control

Nov 14, 2007

These ESCs get warmer to touch than other ESCs that I am using. With the motor off this uses 0.15A while the other 3 brands of ESCs that I tested run between 0.03A and 0.05A. That extra amperage is showing up as heat and will wear your battery down 3x faster if the plane is sitting with the battery plugged in. When at full throttle the amperage draw is the same.

Don't buy it without the programmer.

I'm not disappointed that I bought several of the n20 ESCs....they do work well and are a great price. The programmer is easy to use. So far I haven't had any performance problems or failures.

The battery wires are a little short and the receiver plug wire is a heavy gauge and twice as long as I would like. I've seen this on other Towerpro ESCs too.

Fantastic!

Great speed control for a low price. Is virtually the same performance as ESC's that cost 3x this price.

Is perfect for park flyers using 18 or 20 amps like GWS foamies.

I have 4 of them in planes I fly often and they work great.

The programming box gives lots of options.

I think its best value here in hobbycity. For commnom use there is nothing better. I have 12 pieces and no one defective or some problems. Off course programmer box is needed.
