Three observations: 1. First screen I bought had defective circuitry - battery would not charge. In addition, the reception was often (unpredictably) extremely poor. Thought it was interference from suburban WiFi at first, but I eventually realised that the reception would improve to perfect if the battery was removed whilst the screen was ON, and then reconnected. 2. Replacement request was handled promptly and professionally. 3. My second screen just arrived, however, and it too has the unpredictable reception issues. The reception can, again, be improved by removing the battery whilst ON and then reconnecting the battery. It has nothing to do with antennas, TX, location, interference, or anything else. It is a bizarre and frustrating defect that clearly affects the entire product range, and I would like an explanation.

Seen this all in one monitor as an opportunity to replace my old setup that consisted of a cheap 7in car low res monitor, clunky Chinese DVR, clunky 900Mhz Rx setup and a messy bunch of wires/batteries. Overall this is a great all in one system that has full HD capabilities, PIP, HDMI in/out, AV in/out, built in diversity, built in sunscreen, DVR w/ playback, speakers with adjustable audio level, and many many more settings. HOWEVER, here comes the pitfalls. Mine came without the mounting threads on the bottom unlike the description states, which made my purchase of a transmitter monitor holding mount useless. Come on HK quality control. The DVR recording quality doesn't look very good at all. The buttons SUCK, very hard to get them to acknowledge presses. Finally probably the worst gripe is the monitor tends to shut itself off/freeze/loose its settings which often requires you to pull the battery out to restart it. As for the included 400mW TX i cant quite say much about it yet, i'm using it in a 250 fpv quad, but i have yet to get consistent clear picture while I fly. Could be pilot error as this is my first 5.8 quad setup, I normally fly 900Mhz fixed wing. More to come.

I have had mine for 24hours and it has locked up >10 times, hard to get the menu to stay on the screen long enough to change anything. I'm not sure what the 720p/1080p recording is for, all FPV recording is in 720x576PAL with a very low 1000kbps average no matter what setting you select. Video is very poor quality.
Diversity receiver and screen work rather well.
Has anyone managed to find new firmware for this monitor???
Please HobbyKing can you direct us to where we can get new firmware for this monitor...

Buil quality of display and transmitter is really nice, but firmware is totally awfull.
There is all claimed features, but most of them works extremely bad.
Horrible menu! If you try to change to NTSC in the menu, it doesn't stay on NTSC.
Lock up many times and the only way to turn it off is pull the battery.
No tuning for shrapness and contrast so image quality is so-so (much worse than 5802).
And also angle of view is very narrow and hidden behind the sunshield.

But most of issues could be solved by new firmware. How to update it? Is there a new firmware? i have no idea...

And of course be aware that it's NOT COMPATIBLE with ImmersionRC transmitters!

Right out of the box this unit is impressive. Well laid out and easy to use. The HD picture is amazing! Truly the best monitor I have put my hands on. The mini TX is so small it's hard for my to work with with my big fingers, but thats a good thing! Weighs next to nothing and is very good. Easily as good if not better than my Fatsharks or my Boscams. I hope they start selling the TX on it's own. HIGHLY recommended!!!
