I bought two pairs, one with spring failure
I disassemble it, find the cause of the defect, and repair it after all.
2.3kg Spitfire mounting performance is good

Honestly, my respect for these struts at that price. Their geometry makes finally sense. But most of all, the wheel link assy does not act as a cow tail like these ones: 28983 (same price, poor quality). There is not too much play and the spring action is relatively smooth. However, the long term durability has still to be proven but I think they might perform satisfyingly for quite a while. In my particular case I reduced the length of the spring. This makes it softer in the beginning of the stroke which is better for a nose wheel - in my case! (maybe different in other cases). Btw, stroke: finally satisfying! I didnt feel the need to increase it. More stroke than 28983. Better than 28983. And, if I'm correct, also more lightweight than 28983, at least I had the impression. Satisfying quality at a great price!

Very impressive item. I used one to replace a spring-steel plain wire strut in my HK BAe Hawk. It slid straight onto the remaining pin (I simply cut the wire of the original with a Dremel) and has worked faultlessly. The spring action is strong enough to support a 4kg plane, but not so strong that there's no shock absorption. The trailing link works brilliantly in absorbing front loads, as is a common hazard with a nose gear.
