Art-tech MD500 Coaxial

Nov 14, 2007

Excellent little helicopter. Plugged in a Futaba 6ch 2.4ghz receiver and after a few minutes setting up it was flying very stable hands off in my garage. Definately worth the money. 5stars for looks, ease of setting up and especially how it flies.

MD500... Real Cool!

Nov 14, 2007

I bought this Art-tech MD500 Coaxial Helicopter RTF last week, the first reason I choose this small helicopter because its reasonable price, and I love the scale body as well, secondly I had never tried four channel helicopter with this size. It was pretty easy to setup, I was fixed with my Futaba 2.4 6 channels receiver, it worked perfect then I brought my little MD500 to the field, it was windy that day not really could fly in outdoor unless you modify her when flyers first saw it they really like it. Even some people offer me

I read so many bad reviews at first I really take risk to order this MD500 after I got it I LOVE IT! Its good to buy! No regret!

Art-tech MD500

Nov 14, 2007

Received mine after 3 month wait. Perhaps they were upgrading as had no real problems. After I figured out that the plug with the single wire was the "rudder" all other connections were self evident. Using GWS 4 channel Rx and Hitec Tx and everything worked with default settings except for servo reversing on ch 1 and 4. Access by removing 4 tiny screws and front of canopy then flips up. Great looking and long flight times. Very pleased.

Have bought a second helicopter using the first for parts. Have no issues with the throttle as I did with the first by using a non computer radio. Just love this little Heli looks and flys well.As I am a fixed wing pilot who was never going to fly a helicopter I,m pleased to say this model has completly changed my mind.

The 3-in-1 does not work

Nov 14, 2007

Bought 2 as soon as they were available.

Tried getting the 3-in-1 to work with JR, HiTec, and Graupner Tx/Rx, but no success. Spent more than 1 week on it with multiple combinations before giving up. Followed hints from others in various discussion forums but no joy. Neither package worked.

One of the MD500 is now flying very well with a set of E-Flight Blade CX2's 3-in-1 unit with CX2 Tx/Rx. Pity about the 3-in-1 mixer/controller unit that came with package. Proper instructions might have helped. Otherwise, the helicopter mechanics are good, and flight controls are sensitive.

good first heli... though not

Nov 14, 2007

here's some reading material...

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=811563

here's how i got mine to work... berg microstamp with dsp did not work, while blue bird, or gws 4 channel receiver worked. set throttle end point adjustment to minimum, so that onboard heli speed controller recognizes throttle stick position.

to find the correct throttle wire, try plugging in either wire coming from the circuit board into your throttle channel, which is channel 3 in my case, until the onboard circuit board blinks red, then rests on green light. when you get there, then this means the other wire is the rudder wire. the front two servo wires are for aileron and elevator control.

Lovely little Heli to fly just lacks the information to easily get started. If Hobby City wish to continue selling this heli and I hope they do Please get on to Art-tech to provide marked sevo leads and

provide information re getting the motors

to go.To get the motors going I had to take the throttle down to -150% after that I was more than happy with my purchase

MD 500

Nov 14, 2007

Got my Heli to work, oerseverence is the key, tried swithing leads to Rx and servo reversal till I got results, also swithing and reversing ail. and elev. leads. some trim adjustments and it works great, getting about 12 min. of hovering practice on a battery.

Only 4 * for lack of info, screws to remove canopy are hidden under the trim decals.
