Want a plane that can take on anything? Born from the same stable as our best-selling SkyMule, the AVIOS BushMule is the sturdy workhorse of the sky. Taking rough terrain, water, and snow in its stride, this Plug and Fly airplane uses twin-motors for great sport flying and STOL capabilities.

The Avios BushMule V2 carries on the BushMule pedigree but with some improvements, these include:

• Upgraded servo connection for the steerable nose-wheel
• Re-positioned main landing gear, this has been moved further back
• Brass threads in the wing mounts
• Upgraded propellers and spinners as used on the popular Avios Albatross
• New, eye-catching color scheme

Being twin motors, the prop wash over the wing really helps with the slow-flying performance, this added to the large barn door flaps which can deflect down to 90°, it brings real STOL capabilities to the BushMule. To aid operating off of rough terrain, the BushMule is fitted with large, broad wheels, similar to our popular Tundra models. Flying off of snow and other loose surfaces such as sand once again is no problem for the BushMule. Included in the box are a set of skis that can be fitted in minutes to the main gear and the nose-wheel. Undo the wheel collets, slip off the wheels, slip on the skis, replace the collets, and job done.

Another feature of the BushMule is the in-built cargo door in the rear of the fuselage. This brings another touch of fun by allowing you to drop candy or a parachute during flight. A set of floats are also available separately which will allow you to take-off, and land your BushMule on your local lake or river. Packed with amazing features, the AVIOS BushMule V2 is our most versatile, fun sport/STOL airplane to date.

Features:
• V2 version with many upgrades
• Twin motors
• 90° barn door flaps to slow down landing descent, and fun STOL flying
• In-built cargo door for parachute, and candy drops
• Large, broad Tundra-like wheels for rough terrain
• Includes quick and simple to fit skis for snow and sand
• Plug and Fly to get you airborne as quickly as possible with a minimum of fuss

Still needs some work at the factory

Jul 01, 2021

Excellent looking airplane flies ok. Still has some bad tip stall tendencies, Takes a while longer to assemble and set up than I expected. The rear door servo gave me a lot of trouble, I finally had to replace it before I could even fly it for the first time. Stuff can hang up on the rear door control road. I had to make a guard to keep it from happening. Speed controllers were not set up the same. One had the engine brake turned on and the other did not. Had to reprogram it to be the same before the first flight.
A lot of fun to drop stuff out of, and looks cool when it does.

Uses a wide range of batteries.

Jun 19, 2021

I like the wide range of battery sizes this plane will fly on. A 3300 4s is the sweet spot but Ive tried 4000 4s and even a 5000 3s and it had plenty of power and still easy to flare on landings. The side cargo door access is super cool. This plane requires some experience to set it up and fly..it will fall out of the sky if now flown correctly. The landing gear is built well and can really handle rough terrain. I changed the wheels to soft tundra wheels for the rear mains, and a turbo timber wheel for the nosewheel..lots of ground clearance and no bounce on landings. I've also installed Race day quad 3 blade 10x8 props that provide even more thrust than the stock props. I wish had more channels to run differential thrust and reverse thrust, but I do have enough for the cargo door, all the surfaces and gyro on or off using a lemon rx channel rx and an NX6. This is a very well built model. I haven't had any issues with servos or electronics. One thing to watch out for is having too much deflection on the elevator..I had a crash because of too much defection up elevator..it caused the plane to roll over quickly into high speed stall. I used the outer holes on the control clevis on the elevator, the 2nd hole in on rudder and middle holes on ailerons. I love the big flaps they are very effective and make for nice stable landings. Dropping parachutes out the cargo door is so much fun!

Lots of features but quality falls a little shoot

Jun 01, 2021

The Bush Mule V2 has lots of great features but it falls short in to many ways.
I had to replace one of the servos even before the first flight. Had to replace another one after 4 flights. In both cases the plastic gears failed. A plane this size why doesn't it have all metal gears? The hinges are all pinch hinges and the elevator hing was so thin it broke on the 3rd flight. Thankfully I detected something was wrong and was able to land it to find the elevator completely separated from the stab on one side and about 1/3 of it separated on the other side. Again, a plane this size and weight why not embed actual hinges in the foam. The landing gear, both front and mains, are to light for a plane of this weight. A plane of this weight and intended for rough ground (Bush Plane) should have 5mm wire, not 4mm. That brings me to the tires. I can understand wanting to keep the weight down but EPO foam wheels, really? One of mine came loose from the hub already and I glued it back together with Foam Tac and ordered new ultra light wheels. My plane balances with the battery all the way to the back of the battery tray. I'm flying a 3300 4s and when pushed all the way back the front battery strap is in front of the battery, doesn't even touch it. The back battery strap is so far back my fat old hands just can't reach back in there. I put velcro on the battery and battery tray then use a long set of forceps to work the battery strap.
In flight the Bush mule is nothing less than awesome. Once trimmed out tracks like it was on rails. Plenty of power when you need it. Contrary to what others have said landings are not necessary rough or bouncy. Its a rather heavy plane for its size so land with power on to control the sink rate and you can set it ever so gently onto the runway. When I first put the Bush Mule V2 together and tried to taxi it around on the lawn it didn't steer worth crap. That gave me reason to explore uncharted ground for me. Differential steering. Wow, what a difference. I set it up for 50% and that's just way to much. At 50% it would make a turn with the inside wheel just about staying in one spot. 20 or 25% would be more realistic. Differential thrust is awesome for ground handling and I can't wait to try it on water without a water rudder.
Would I recommend the Bush Mule V2 to a friend? It depends. If the person is willing to work out the shortcomings mentioned above, sure would because its a fun plane to fly and it does that well. If someone is looking for something to put together and just fly it, no, there are other planes that fly well right out of the box without owner modifications.

Good plane

May 03, 2021

Overal build quality is good. Only a tight connection on the outer to inner wing one one side gave some challange. Flys really nice, does all the things you want. And lots of wires from the wing, make sure you route them properly.
A good plane to fly

Cost cutting ruins a potentially good plane

Apr 26, 2021

Four flights and four knackered servos so far . Nose wheel and main landing gear are totally not up to the job and bend at every available opportunity , with polystyrene wheels .. really ? Plug in wings would have made assembly a lot easier , it's a very fiddly job . Having said all that , it flies beautifully and is a very stable performer . Would i recommend it ? Not unless the quality is upped , and by quite a lot .
