It is rare that an individual aicraft becomes famous and even more rare that a film is made about a certain aircraft, the Memphis Belle and her crew were to "star" in no less than 2 movies, making this B-17 probably the most widely known individual military aircraft. More importantly, this aircraft became a beacon of hope in the dark days of 1943 as it was the first Flying Fortress to successfully complete 25 missions with her crew unscathed. The aircraft and crew were sent back to the US from the ETO to raise war bonds and of course moral, they recieved a hero's welcome and a legend was born.

This huge plug and fly B-17 is very simple and fast to assemble, with all servo's & ESC's pre-installed. It is made from EPO foam, so it is tough as you would exepect and as the 1pc wing is removable, it is also practical. The pre-fitted electric retracts & wheels are large enough to tackle almost any surface and with plenty of power on tap from the four brushless motors spinning counter-rotating props, smooth take off's are a synch, the pre-fitted split flaps ensure that landings are also drama free.

There is plenty of scale detail on offer, including the guns & ball turret, the Pratt & Whittney "engines", three blade scale props, working navigation & landing lights and so on. We have flown this B-17 extensively, it is easy to fly and so graceful, a scale flyers dream, this model has real presence in the air and is bound to become a star at your airfield!

The warbirds of all warbirds. A bit sceptical first to be a really expensive model, but I was surprised over the high quality that came out of the box. Motor servos and landing gear at high quality and works great. The model comes in a sturdy box preventing all sorts of mishandeling from transport companies. Running the model on grass are a bit of a problem because it needs to be nose heavy, The first run on grass it tipped over all the time so I moved the batteries backwards over the wing and after that setup and flaps fully extended disaster almost struck. After a violent flight whit tail heavy pitch ups the aircraft finally came down in one peace whit only one propeller broke from a minor bonce at the landing. Whit 2 x 3 cell 2450mah all the way in the nose the CG was spot on. The model are nearly finished when unboxing it, you just need to glue the wing together and tie the cables neatly to make the wing mounting easier. My solution was to tape the reciver to the wing directly and some fast connections to satellite recivers and rudder elevator servos. The paint scheme are a little bit of but can be fixed whit an airbrush and some EPO safe paint. And it will be really nice to have as decoration because the detail are overwhelming. The wing is a bit sloppy and should have a sterdy wingspar.

Motors would not run out of the box. The ESC apparently will not arm. Still waiting on HK to rectify the problem. Beautiful plane otherwise.

What a big baby , This plane looks great in the air just like the real thing.
Easy to handle , will fly quite fast but it looks the part just flying it nice and steady.
You don't really need the flaps to land it glides in on rails.
If this is the kind of plane you like go for it I did and love it.

This must be without doubt the best value scale flying model on the market.I have purchased three of them. The first flew so well that I decided to get another and before assembly repainted the parts with matt Humbrol enamel in Royal Air Force coastal command colours(220 squadron). Both models fly on the same slot on my transmitter witheverything at neutral. To answer other customers questions about spares, at 180 from the uk warehouse it was just as cheap to by a third model for spares.I did however cut the motor shafts on both flying models to accomodate 4mm prop adaptors and have flown both on a variety of available props. My favourite for both sound and performance are the APC 9x6 two blade copies available from Hobbyking and some other uk dealers. If it is very windy and you dont want to break the retracts, this model will bellyland no bother and with the two bladed props they generally do not brake.I have flown this model on props a small as 8x6 no bother.

I have had mine for a couple of months now. I love the way it flies. I have only used MAS 9x7x3 props not the original props. For what this plane cost it is worth every penny. If you like big warbirds this one will not let you down if set up correctly. Buy a couple extentions for the rudder and elevator to make wing easier to assemble and disassemble if transporting in smaller than a full size truck. LOVE IT.

This is my favourite HK model so far. The only things I changed were the props, I put in a bomb bay and I gave her a repaint. She flies beautifully on the stock set-up with 2 3s packs. Plenty of flight time with scale speeds. She doesn't need flaps for landing at all as she is more like a four engined glider on landing, very docile. I don't quite have 25 missions on her yet but I'm getting there. My advice is you like B-17's then get this one. You can see some pics of mine on the gallery section of our club website www.pemacflyers.com

Absolutely beautiful airplane. Instructions are a joke, really worthless written in chinglish.
Spare parts are also non-exsistant at HK, although I'm finding some replacement parts on other sites/vendors, go figure! Have not flown it yet as I'm still fine tuning it.

Overall, this may be an orphan here at HK, might be worth your while to shop elsewhere as I will be from now on for planes with no replacement parts.

I received the plane in good condition. I had some issues with the servos not plugging into the Spektrum receiver because the edges of the plugs weren't beveled to fit into the receiver. The plane flies great with (2) 3000mAh 3S batteries and the LED lights look amazing in the air. The biggest problem that I have with the plane is the right wheel retract sticks in the up position. I can press on it and get it to come down, but you can't do that while it's flying. I've only been able to fly with wheels down. I can buy a new set of retracts for $40, but that's $40 more toward the total cost. I'm bummed about the retract. Other than that, this plane is amazing!!!

Hi thanks I now have my kit, but because I cancelled from the uk wharehouse I never recieved my full refund. then because I used the international wharehouse it cost me a further 83 import duty, when I try to contact HK about this they ignore my E mails. seems I'm not the only disatisfied customer though. bet you still ignore me and don't print this review. your's disgruntled D Lawless. PS the wing had slight damage but i expect you don't care.
