This WWII Havilland DH.98 Mosquito is big scale! It comes with retracts and is made from EPO. What more could you want?! A highly detailed large scale EPO Brushless Mosquito with dual scale like retracts which open slowly with their own doors. The Mosquito has plenty of power thanks to its dual 30A brushless outrunner motors. The high level of detail in engine cowling, canopy, cockpit and front machine guns give this warbird excellent realism. Also all the servos are pre-installed and all control surfaces are controlled by a total of 10 (9g) servos, including Aileron, rudder, retracts and retract bay doors. I am generally pleased with this model. Always worshipped the Mossy as the ultimate in WW2 engineering and innovation as well as admiring its beautiful lines. I put lots of weight in the nose, including a disused 9v battery. With the recommended battery (11.1 li-po) it got off the ground and needed all my attention to keep it flying while I trimmed it. Acting on a suggestion, I used a 4 cell battery and got a considerable increase in performance. Time now to act on another tip, and increase the pitch of the props to see what that will do. Criticisms? Undercarriage is too delicate for any except the best pilots and flattest surfaces. I have straightened the wire legs several times, and now have glued back together one of the rotating parts of the servo. If HK carried spares, or upgrades it would be good. Also clear specs for replacement of motors/ESCs would be useful. As I am so much in love with the Mossy and a WW2 child, I really want to enjoy this one and keep it flying.

This thing is like a tank. I had 3 big crashes with it (one from 6-10 meters high) and nothing broke apart the scale guns in the nose.

Only problem is that one motor shaft is now bent.
Is there a motor on HK site I can use for replacement?

This is a very well put together plane. I've had the B-17 which has an almost identical wing joining design and the same type of foam but this far exceeds that model. All the parts fit together beautifully. The finish is really nice and it is amazingly quiet. The motors will sit barely spinning at idle which looks really scale and it sounds like a little turbo prop. Can't wait to fly it but with no flaps and tapered tips it will probably need to be flown to the ground with experience under your belt. I'll be watching out for a tip stall turning onto final.

Expect big troubles. The mods you need to do will double the price and then the undercart is no match for the stall speed. Shame as i was looking forward to this.

This plane was a pain when I first got it as I tried to takeoff from the ground but it does not like grass too much & after a few prop strikes a motor & esc died.
I only do hand launch & land in long grass next to the runway.
I run 4s 3300 25c with master airscrew 11x8 3 blade props for around 6min flight.
there is a weight glued inside the nose (get too it through battery area) that must be removed to run 4s 3300 so the weight is ok.
Elevator is bowed downwards but its flexes back to straight during flight & is no issue.
This plane went from my "what am i gonna do with this" to the 1st plane I fly when I get to the field so I can get the confidence goin for the day to fly my bigger planes.
Rudder servo died & couldnt be bothered to replace it so just taped the rudder in place & it still flies great.

I received my Mosquito last May. After my second flight the left speed control went up in smoke. HK has not been able to supply the replacement speed control, claiming that they are waiting for the manufacture to do so. After almost a year later HK gave me a credit to offset the purchase of two HK 30 amp speed controls. The problem is I've tested that speed control and have found that it produces about 20 percent less rpm's than the one's that came with the Mosquito. To say the least HK needs provide better service.

It is very easy to install working split flaps on this model to make it a lot more fun to fly and to land. You will need two(2) 9g servos, one in reverse and the following micro hardware; 2 clevis, 2 control horns, 2 3/4" pin hinges, 2- 1mm wire control rods with threaded ends and 2 E/Z connectors. Tools needed; Foan safe CA glue, sharp knife, hinge tape, exacto micro saw balde.

The out line for the flaps are already marked on the wing, so it is simple to follow these lines to cut out the flaps. Because there is very little weight added to the plane the balance is not affected.

I received my Mossy DH 98 today and had it all together in a few hours, easy build. I was disapointed that it did not have flaps and I will make a mode to the plane later and add the split flaps using one 9g servo on each side. My plane balanced well with the 3S lipo but I think I will switch to the 4S for the first flight. I changed out the props for MAS 9 x 7 and will switch to 10 x 3 when they come in and maintaining the one tractor and one pusher. It looks like it will be a while before I can fly it since we just had 6" of snow today.
