As the saying goes, the bigger they are, the better they fly, making this lightweight, but large Cub ideal for trainee club pilots or for those looking for a Cub just a little larger than the normal foam models.
This model is nicely finished, with hinged control surfaces, a solid under-carriage set up, ply U/C & motor mounts as well as battery tray. Full fitting kit, screwdriver and even epoxy glue are included.

I purchased two of these. I am very pleased with the overall quality of this product. I got exceptional value for the price that I paid. Shipping to Utah, USA add 1? more for the price of shipping. It takes about three weeks for the item to arrive. I gave it four crowns for quality because there are no instructions with the kit. However I didn't have any problem with the assembly. There isn't any Center of Gravity specified. See my post under discussions on this subject.Good plane at all! 1. Foam is very resistant and smooth. 2. Build takes almost no time. 3. You have to order bigger wheels, the aixles have only 19mm space for bigger wheels. 4. I use 4 digital metal gear servos HK15148B for safety, they fit perfectly. 5. The pushrods for rudder & elevator were too long. 6. You have to bend the rear wheel wire to fit under the clevis for the rudder to make the wheel steerable. 7. No instructions included. 8. CG at wingspar. 9. A 3542 1500kv fits nicely under the cowl using the original motor-mount. Conclusion: Good plane for intermediate builders.Flying is easy even for beginnersThere are a few problems with this model. The Wings are held on by long bolts that thread into hidden inaccessible captive nuts that are trying to grip foam, so you can imagine what happens when you tighten them.
To get at the battery you have to take off the wings, which means not only undoing the 4 wing bolts but, also those on the struts, and then disconnect the aileron servo leads. Servo extender leads are needed on every connection. The wheels are too small for a cub in my opinion. It does not have the usual cub suspension on the undercarriage. Rudder and aileron servos must be the larger mini types: micros won't fit. Otherwise it goes together well. I have not flown it yet. More later.Really big plane, need weight in the nose, not easy battery access ( not big enough) will not advise to beginner quiet hard to fly specially with strong wind, beside this: the landing gear is perfect did not need to change anything at it's say in discussion, the look is amazing it look so great, not look like EPO plane, the sharp yellow help a lot during flight, this plane is a beauty. Thank's HKGreat model for the price. A lot of airplane. Easy assembly. Just needs different wheels like Du-Bros low bounce treaded wheels part number 250TNot sure WHO Gave it 5 stars, I will give it 1 Very Poor QA at plant and piss poor warrentyMy is just arrived. Pack in a single box, in perfect conditions.
The paint is poor in detales.
All works perfect. Construction perfect. Lets see flying. The plywood motor mount was assembled crooked, should have returned it but after waiting NEARLY A MONTH FOR SHIPPING I fixed it myself. The wheels as mentioned look terrible, and break easy to boot. NO INSTRUCTIONS...at all. You can set it up with the COG's suggested and may have more luck than I did. The plywood and foam sounds like a good idea but reacts quite differently when subjected to any kind of shock...left with a foam hull filled with rattling shattered plywood. Maybe I got a lemon (perhaps something else besides the motor mount that I missed) but this plane never would really fly. Acted very tail heavy regardless of weight added, and yes the power system was sized right. I love cubs and have had nothing but success with other models, this one...I wish I could do over.Good value, but the wheels on the photo look REDICULOUS , please Hobbyking get your supplier to fit something better.
The photo's do not show wether it is EPO foam or balsa /ply, I believe that it is FOAM, which for me is great.
The Cub is available from many, many sites, so if Hobby king is to maintain its sales leadership, get the wheels fixed. I will then buy one.I purchased two of these.
