BMW Teams Up with Drone Racing League

Drone racing is an emerging sport that people are continually invested in and interested in.

It’s not only drone racing fans who are invested in the sport, BMW has shown equal interest in the sport by announcing their partnership with Drone Racing League (DRL). DRL is the largest international drone racing organization. Its CEO and founder Nicholas Horbaczewski label the sport of drone racing as ‘futuristic’ and can ‘make history’. In a statement to the press, Horbaczewski says he is looking forward to further developing this elite sport in strategic partnership and collaboration with BMW Group. This powerful partnership will see professional drone racing brought to BMW Welt. hobbyking bmw drl Head of BMW’s International Brand Experience, Jörg Reimann, shared his excitement about this collaboration, saying “The partnership with DRL will enhance BMW’s racing involvement with future-oriented formats. Drone racing is a very competitive type of racing, characterized by the interplay of extremely high-performance material and digital technology. This represents an environment in which BMW has assumed a pioneering position for many years in its core business. We are very much looking forward to this collaboration and to the new event formats that we will be developing together with our partners.” This year DRL will host the Allianz World Championship, which will see drone racers take on iconic venues around the world. In the second to last race, on July 28, BMW, who is an official sponsor of the event, will hold the race in their iconic venue BMW Welt. The race will be broadcasted globally so FPV fans and drone racers who cannot attend the event in Munich can watch still catch all the action as it unfolds. Last year, DRL broke the Guinness World Record for the fastest racing drone on earth with their DRL RacerX. Moving at speeds of up to 265.87 km/h, the company aims to break the record with the help of their new collaborations with BMW Group.
