The Evolution and History of Quanum FPV Goggles

Like the first iPhone, The Quanum FPV Goggles started out as a basic yet revolutionary model and continued to develop into something even more spectacular than imaginable and has become the phenomenon that it is today. Let’s trace the Quanum back to its humble beginnings.

June 2014 - Quanum DIY FPV Goggle Set with Monitor (KIT)

Moulded out of foam, the ergonomic design was created to allow the user to carve the goggle to best suit their face with additional foam strips provided to get the right fit and block all the light.

While this was a revolutionary start for Quanum FPV Goggles, it did not have a transmitter and was limited to being used with a base station.

Feb 2017 - Quanum Cyclops V2 FPV Goggle w/ Integrated Monitor and 40ch Receiver

hobbyking quanum Like their previous models, HobbyKing continually listened to their users to understand how best to improve their model based on their wants and needs. That is made apparent once more in the upgrades made to the Quanum Cyclops V2 FPV Goggle w/Integrated Monitor and 40ch Receiver. The biggest difference in V2 is the inclusion of the band and channel selection, which is an excellent addition. Whereas V1 was only limited to an auto scan.

HobbyKing has also included different input/output options. The AV option allows for in-ground station support and RF allows you to capture the flight and record the flight.

The new material of the head strap is a lot more comfortable and flexible to suit the shape of your head and face. V1 introduced the user to a battery mount at the rear of the goggles, which was used to optimize the weight distribution. V2 improved this by having a floating battery mount which could be adjusted along the strap to where it’s best suited to the individual. Additionally, the new battery compartment is much larger, giving you the option to use a larger battery.

On the inside, there is a new coating that is anti-reflective, which reduces the glare of the LCD screen on the inside of the model. HobbyKing also made upgrades to the video drivers for better visual performance, as the colours were more vibrant and brighter. Additionally, the updated firmware on the video receiver significantly improved the reception quality.
