Fun Device

no more worries abut what stuff temp has reached! Just point and click....

Maybe not lab grade accuracy but give you very good idea of situation.

Also fun for checking temps of different things....

I disagree with Nick. I'm really impressed. It might struggle for accuracy at its EXTREMES of measurement, but it's quite accurate enough in its normal range, and a major improvement on the "ouch! that feels hot!" device I previously used (my finger tip). Come on, the price is rock-bottom, it's well made, compact, and does everything it should. As for lacking variable emissivity, this feature is only useful if you actually know the emissivity of the object in question. Does anyone know the emissivity of a D9 Lipo? I don't, and I don't need to - this device works very well indeed with its fixed emissivity setting. It is excellent for checking individual cells in a Lipo, and because the readings are so quick you can fire off several readings to make sure you've got the "hot spot". This device has really helped show up installation and cooling problems, which is essential where I live (Middle East). Beware that it can be addictive, as Nick and I found out - you end up checking the temperature of EVERYTHING!

Nice device.

spot:distance = 1:1

Me coffe is around 61C and me deepfreezer is -26C (actually -28 +/- 1 C as measured with a 1-wire therometer (Maxim-Dallas)) it seems to be accurate (+/- 3 C). But due to the different reflectivity of the items in my deepfreezer, the device showed -18 to -26C.

Note it only measures with a fixed reflectivity and has no laser with the correct spot size. But what do you want for this price. So it is a ballpark figure device.

It is a bit too expensive for my liking with respect to performance and build quality (do not sit on it or drop it on the floor - it will crack) and therefore it receives only 3 stars.

Now I've been writing many customer reviews and hardly any item ever gets 5 stars from me. If on the other hand this device would have been sold for e.g. $8.99, I would have given it 4 stars since that would have been a fair value. It would never get 5 stars from me since it is not sturdy enough and lacks accuracy. Now I've been looking for proper ones but they are at least $150-$250 (e.g. Fluke). Anyway me coffe is getting cold....

MT100 - it woks great

Got it today and I was surprised how small it is. Yes, it really works, it shows the same values as regular thermometers. For measurement of temperature of batteries, motors, ESCs ... this is an ideal tool. Highly recommended.
