Great.....after some work was done to them

May 01, 2017

I bought these hoping to replace my fans on my SR-71 Blackbird, as another post said, mine came in with a 68mm molded onto them and go figure they didn't fit my 64mm housing. Not a big deal as I needed to make a new prop adapter anyways I chucked up on the prop adapter with a cordless drill and began sanding the fan against a belt sander until it fit in my housing. After I got it to fit I had to remove some burrs from the tips with a razor blade. I then put it on a magnetic style prop balancer and here's where the quality shows.......I usually just add a little scotch tape to balance my props which works great but these were so out of balance I couldn't physically put enough tape on the light side of the fan to balance it so I basically guessed and added epoxy on the inside of the fan on the light side. It took about 3 rounds of epoxy (going in small increments) to balance it to "close enough" turns out that I didn't want it completely balance because my machined prop adapter wasn't perfectly centered. In order to solve this I simply turned the fan on the prop adaptor until i found a spot where it stopped vibrating. The end result I'm very happy with and it does sound amazing......just took some putzing to get there. Now hopefully my motors and ecs's can handle all the added thrust going from a 5 to 10 blade.

These are great fans. Why no one has reviewed them I have no clue? I put them in my Freewing A-10 and wow what a sound and much better handling plane. I recommend them for all 64mm EDFs. The balance is that good. I have this fan in my BAE hawk too. Great sound. No more winneing sound!

Great product - mine had 68mm moulded in them but when compared to the 68mm version you can see the tips have been sanded down and it is indeed a 64mm - great for quietening the 64mm screamers with the realistic jet whoosh.

I am building a monstor 64mm EDF jet. I needed this 10 blade to properly evaluate the thrust ratio needed.
