Looking for a model that can handle anything you throw at it and keeps coming back for more? Introducing the Durafly® ™ SkyMule, the work horse of the sky.

The SkyMule has been designed as an all purpose, all pilot model that is ready for land or snow right out of the box. With its generous internal spacing, twin engine layout and easy access design it is also ideal for carrying autopilot and FPV equipment as well as handling the weight of larger batteries for long flight times.

Excellent for sport type flying and aerobatics, the SkyMule has a wide flight envelope allowing it to fly well both at fast and slow speeds. With two powerful 1100kv brushless outrunners, this model has plenty of get-up-and-go with plenty of vertical. Loops, rolls and inverted flight are not an issue at all with predictable flight characteristics. At a wingspan of 1500mm, it has a great presence in the air, but with removable 2 piece wings it is also easy to transport to and from the field.

As a platform for FPV is where the SkyMule really comes into its own. The fuselage has plenty of room to mount your equipment that is easily accessible from a huge side door. Included in the box is a FPV canopy allowing you to easily mount a camera keeping the nose out of shot. It also has a removable nose cone for mounting an FPV camera right up front and molded into the bottom is a hole for a camera for birds eye views. To minimise interference, there is also a removable hatch for mounting of FPV transmission equipment. A great deal of thought has gone into the design of this model and it is the most feature rich FPV platform on the market today.

There can be no doubt that this model is a looker. The EPO finish is superb, and the sport scale decals really gives this model a real personality. To finish off the look of this truly utilitarian plane, included in the box are a set of skis which makes this model a lot of fun to fly off sand as well as snow in those winter months where your flying time is normally quite limited. Not anymore!

No matter how you plan to use the SkyMule, we're sure you will have many enjoyable hours up in the air with this reliable steed.

A great model for all aspects of flying.

Jun 05, 2017

Kicked myself for not buying one of these when they were first released and then I stumbled across it in the EU warehouse last week. Ordered on Monday, arrived at lunchtime Thursday, assembled that evening and was flying the next day.

Having read all the horror stories with the early models, and having witnessed some of them with Skymules owned by friends, I was very strict with my inspection of the plane before I went anywhere near assembling it. I need not have worried, this one was very well put together and there were no problems at all with the construction.

My only niggle is that the nosewheel steering linkage is installed the wrong way round. It is set up so that left rudder gives right turn on the ground. Luckily I spotted it before flying and was able to manually move the linkage across to the other side of the servo (I have since restored this to the original setup and fitted a servo reverser).

Maiden flight was completely viceless. Took off in about 3m and was perfectly trimmed out. I flew with a 3s 3300mah (30C) pack and this seemed to be just about right for the model when located at the leading edge of the battery tray. I am going to use a 3s 4000 in this plane and I'm expecting flight times in the region of 20 minutes +.

I was surprised that it was set up as only a 4ch plane. I was expecting the aileron servos to be on individual leads, but this didn't cause any issues at all.

A great plane. Simple to fly, a decent size and very aerobatic.

nice plane with engine issues

Nov 13, 2016

i bought this plane last summer,
it was nicely packaged , and everything was ok on arrival.
the assembly of the plane was without problems.
sadly after one of the ESC's fried, i had to replace them both. the second flight ended before take off as the right engine nacelle broke loose when i throttled up.
luckily only minor damage , the prop broke and off course i had to glue the nacelle back.
after reinforcing both nacelle's and replacing both motors for inrunners the plane is now fine and handles easy in the air.

I purchased the PNP version. Thus far I have a lot of issues with this so called PNP. First, the wing spars will not fit into the wings (too Large). 2nd, the four wing thumbs screws are too large to fit into the locking system. And you will need a servo reverser for the nose gear. With all this, I really have concerns about its flight worthiness.(FPV GEAR?) With the so called Customer support I do not expect to have it in the air before the snow melts or even ready for flying season . I havent got to the skis yet will be surprised if they do fit . I should have gone for the Kit. This is My First and Last Durafly.

This plane for the price is wounderfull. That saying it dose have cheap guality. The decals are coming off with no tape or heat gun. Once the nose is removed it dose not stay on if replaced. I am haveing issues with a few of the control horns pulling off. Also the covers for the esc fell off so i need to attach them some how so i can gaine acess when needed. Iwould recommend that you watch the hk product video for this plane, he shows a few tips and tricks i would recommend you follow. I am warping this plane in a car vinyl warp this stiffens the plane with only alittle wieght added. The props are useless i replaced them for a set of sirscrew 10x7. If you use the video tramitter slot you need to ether ned to use an 45 elbow or like i did cut the foam to hold the Antena.

I picked this up dirt cheap on Black Friday. I changed the props right away. Standard props are no good. I used a 3600 50C 4S....got the CG figured out and test flew it. Wow what a great plane and fun to fly. I only planned on using it during the winter months with ski set up but now I may pop the wheels back on during the summer as well. Very impressed with this once it was set up correctly .....great flyer!

POOR QUALITY CONTROL

The aluminum wing spars don't fit. I had to sand the spar for an hour with a dremel and hand sanding to get it to fit. this is not a plug and fly plane. Sure the parts are there, but if you have to spend a ton of time making the parts work, it should be called kit.

Very happy with this aircraft. It came very well packaged, Quality of the foam and over all look of the aircraft is outstanding. Very good value for money.

The only area which I feel could be improved on is the quality of the pushrods, Clevis's , control horns and maybe the servos. My aileron servos seemed very easy to move ( Not much resistance) so I changed them out for a couple of Hitec metal geared servos along with the elevator. Its your decision but I feel they are the most important control surfaces and needed better quality servos. After all if your going to put a lot of moneys worth of FPV gear on this plane its piece of mind knowing you have good servos. I wouldn't want to come completely unstuck all because of a cheap servo.

Overall Im very happy with this PNF version. Looks stunning and flies beautifully. I wouldn't recommend it as a first plane for a beginner but certainly for the pilot ready to take that next step from their trainer.

My SkyMule is tough as a mule. On the first flight I was experimenting with the Turing flight controller & gps when I crashed into a chain link fence. No damage. Minor foam compression. On another flight I handed the controls over to a friend and it crashed. A minor 1 inch crack where the wing attaches to the fuselage. I could have flown again but fixed it and was flying in 20 minutes. The plane is stable. I fly it with the gyro turned off. Every one at the field is impressed by it.
