Just one quick glance at this superbly crafted Edge 540 is all it takes to be impressed by its quality, look harder and you will see that this model is built to be a serious 3D/sport aerobatic performer.

The Balsa/ply construction is of the best quality, close attention has been paid to weight saving - without compromising strength. The bare airframe weighs in at a super light 1140g!!

More clues as to the quality of this model are given away by the carbon fibre under-carriage, wing tube, tail wheel and control horns. The expertly applied covering is nicely done and matches the superbly painted glassfiber cowl and wheel pants, the attractive scheme is also ideal for orientation. The Edge 540 is very practical and features plug in wings for easy transportation and a large canopy for easy battery access.

This Edge 540 has clearly been built for hardcore 3D, the huge control surfaces combined with a light flying weight give you total control and with this in mind, the lightweight & heavy duty hardware, including a pull/pull rudder & ball-linked control rod's offers the kind of precision you would expect of a high performance 3D plane.

Despite clearly being built with 3D in mind, the Edge 540 would be just as happy as a sport aerobatic model, so you dont need to be a hard-core 3D pilot to appreciate and enjoy this truly stunning scale aerobatic model!

Received mine and it appears it was damaged in shipping. Although the box showed minimal damage, the fuselage was busted in about 8-10 places. I truly believe this was due to flimsy construction. They way this thing is put together, I seriously doubt it could survive even a moderately hard landing. Let's admit it.....it will happen at some time.
I will do the shipping damage repairs myself. I really don't want to go through the return process-too many horror stories in the reviews and discussions on this site to take that chance!
With all that said, even if this aircraft had survived the trip without any damage, I would be beefing up the structure before the maiden flight. The firewall area is especially suspect! I realize that manufactures are trying to build planed lighter and weigh less but most fliers would sacrifice a little heaver plane for structure integrity.

First, I just want to thank HobbyKing and their manufacturers to think that we are all master builders advanced, hence the lack of instructions, I'm sure. ;) However first impressions of this plan were that it was well built and finished and this impression stayed with me during construction. The elevator I chose to use 2 servos, if you want to use 2 servos, linkages have also need to add the cable to the system pulls pulls was subistituidos, the client is very weak. Corona Digital Servo Metal Gear DS339HV engine Aerodrive Turnigy SK3 - 5045-660kv, battery ZIPPY Compact 3300mAh 4S 35C Lipo Pack, ESC Turnigy Brushless ESC 85A w / 5A SBEC. Excellent 3D aero completing all maneuvers.

This is a very well made aircraft, with quality hardware, simple to follow manual, perfect fit for the NTM 42-58 electric motor spinning a 16" x 6" light wood prop. I also used the Turnigy 85A ESC with 5A SBEC. Servos used are 3 x Corona DS-319MG and elevator uses 1 x Ino Lab HG-D650HB fitted just rearward of the wing spar on the RHS and using a fabricated 6mm dia. C/F push rod with adjustable Ball end links. Battery used is Zippy Compact 4000mah 5S 25C LiPo with XT-90 connectors. Balance is perfect with no need for ballast.
Ready to fly weight is 2460 grams.
