This is made by the same company as the Yak 54 which is a great little plane with a few minor mods. I bought the Pitts hoping for something similar but sadly, not to be.
The Pitts arrived with both wings suffering from serious De-lamination of the covering film & the tail surfaces weren't much better. Fuselage had a broken stringer. The box was undamaged.
Initially I thought the box may have been subject to a bit too much sun & the covering had reacted but on repair I've realized the covering film is total & utter rubbish. I've had to use Balsalock on most seams & recover large parts where it was too bad to repair. There is evidence of the stringer being repaired in the factory (with what resembles cheese instead of glue) & this had to be cut out & replaced. Continued in reply...

I received the parcel today, well packed and arrived without the slightest damage, the model is complete with all parts, the quality of materials is really excellent, though with some minor imperfections, for example the baffle plate is detached from the fuselage and in my opinion a bit leggerino to paste back by smoothing the joints and reinforcing it with strips of balsa woodshrink it, of good quality, the wings are perfect in both structure and cover, even the elevator and rudder are also perfect, naca and painted wheel without scratches, all at a fair price. This product, like others I purchased ....5 kroner (translated with google translator)

Mine arrived and i was quite pleased with the look, manual is a waste of time, don't even bother using it. Wheel pants are plastic and poorly painted and haven't had the wheel hole cut, not using them now... All the paint fell off them, cowl and canopy are fine, slight twist in fuse but I'll live with it, Covering was ok but a few edges needed touching up, nothing serious, BUT! The damn aileron to aileron linkage is pathetic, I have no idea how it is INTENDED to work but it took me several hours to make something up, Not good enough, also missing two small ply wing mounting parts and short on control horns and clevis's.
Overall it's ok for the price but has some serious drawbacks.

Not the best quality model by far but in true HK style it's cheap!
Mine had a twist in the top wing, think they prob all do judging by reviews of USA/aus customers, easily remedied shaving/ re- drilling outer wing struts
Rear stab slot was miles off horizontal
Rear elevator control method was inadequate in my opinion, still used single servo setup but used twin rods to each surface
Always expect extra work over the always vague usually useless manuals, but all part of the hobby. C/g was not covered in the manual, req lead to balance at a point on the underside of the top wing, level with the leading edge of bottom wing.
Had to construct An extra batt. Tray to carry a 3650 4s right upto back edge of motor to get c/g with minimal lead. Motor is turnigy aero drive 3542-1250kv out runner with 12/6e apc style pulls 792w @ 56a on fresh 4s via a 70amp controller. Power is unlimited vertical at 3/4 throttle ! Very smooth and predictable and comes in very slowly if required with slight headwind. For the money it's just great. Def not recommend for a first build or someone with little build exp. but with right mods will make a great cheap bipe. The above setup returns at least 12 mins sport flying, as for c/g issues if I built this one again I would move servos forward and fit a light weight tail skid to help : )

Sent in single box, not double as promised. Arrived with broken lower wing, canopy and tail.
HK want it sent back to HK for warranty which I wont do due to postal cost.
I like the construction and looks. Don't like the poor manual and packaging. Pretty gutting all round HK. Will re rate this model if HK comes up with a deal for me that doesn't involve sending it back.

Just maidened my Pitts and I am very pleased. I use a Turnigy SK3 3543 1000kV motor, a 3000mAh pack, Turnigy Trust 55A ESC and a MAS 10X4 prop. The model flies very well on this set up - quick take offs, scale speed and will even prop hangs. Just a few notes: I have set the COG as 3/4" behind the LE of the bottom wing and this seems to work well. The instructions tell you to mount the motor mount upside down which leads to a thrust line problem (which I am currently correcting). In all respects, this in NOT a beginner aeroplane. But for the reasonably experienced mdeller who has a bit of time to spare, the HK Pitts is a worthy addition to the fleet.

I have had this airplane for over 50 flights now, the longest I have ever had a plane, in one piece. Flys easy and well for me as a advanced novie or when I let one of the older pilots fly. I wont trade it for any og the other planes I have had from here. In all this time, flights and minor problems only three worth mentioning. The landing gear is a little soft and bends easily, with my configuration it is a major pain beacuse I have to remove bttery to get at screws which are under the semipermant installed battery. I managed to get a heavier gear and cut it down to fit, works great. Second I didnt like the aileron control horns mounting location. I mounted mine on the trailing edge, with spare long servo arms. I cut the arms in 1/2 and cut a "V" to fit the trailing edge and slie them on and gluded. I wound up installing my battery with velco are far forward as possible, making it almost permant with out removing cowl.

All said and do I love it, best favorite. I now bought the bigger version, maybe it become favorite, but I doubt it
