Hailing from a small yet "Beautiful island" off the cost of Taiwan the Accipiter Badius is considered in some circles to be a "bird of prey" however, we feel that the “shape” of this sea fairing vessel of the skies is simple yet elegant enough to become one of your favorites!

If your looking for an inexpensive park-flyer to practice and hone your F3A flying skills, without the fear of lawn darting a months salary because of an over zealous maneuver, then we have just the model for you!

All that is required to have this little pattern ship doing Cuban 8's at your local field is your own 4 channel transmitter and receiver (Tx/Rx) a 1000~1300mAh 11.1v 3S1p Lipoly battery, a 1300kv Bell type motor, 20A esc and 3 9gram servos.

guanli instruction sheet shows this was designed around GL-370 brushed gearedmotor (heavy) and obselete. I tried Turnigy 2730-1300 and found plane very tail heavy! A 3S 1.0Mah 124gm battery velcroed to front of firewall would not even bring it close to my estimate of where CG was. No CG marked on plans. Plans call for obsolete battery, ie NiMh 8.4V 650 Mah! Really no room under canopy to mount a Lipo. More room under wing but not much room with servos sticking through and would be a pain to have to unscrew the wing to change the battery , especially with the too long screw supplied. wing screw hole misaligned. Plastic clevises poor quality. A DUD! Waste of time and money. Totally obsolete.

WING SCREW HOLE WAS OFF BY ALOT, had to cut plastic wing support with exacto all the way forward and redrill hole,CUT MOTOR MOUNT STICK ON BOTTOM 3/4 WAY THRU AND STRAIGHTENED AND BRACED STICK WITH 1/16" BASS WOOD on bottom TO TAKE OUT DOWN THRUST.USED A BELLTYPE 150 WATT MOTOR WITH ALUM.COOLING FINS TO FIT MOTOR MOUNT STICK and 8x6" prop..WAS VERY NOSE HEAVY AND WAS GOING TO TAKE 4.5 OZ. LEAD TO BALANCE.CUT FOAM FROM UNDER INST.PANEL AND USED SOLDERING IRON TO MELT AWAY EXCESS FOAM AND A 1300MAH BATTERY GOES ALMOST ALLTHE WAY UNDER INST. PANEL.NOW ONLY TOOK 1.25 OZ. TO BALANCEI FIGURED THE CARON FIBER ROD WAS A GOOD BALANCE POINT SO I PUT VELCRO STRIPS 1/8 " WIDE ON TOP SIDE OF WING AT CARBO ROD LOCATION & TURN PLANE UPSIDE DOWN ANS SHE BALANCES PERFECT.FLEW IT AND IT IS AWESOME.DUMB DOWN YOUR CONTROL THROWS AND USE 60pcnt EXPO. AND SET UP DUAL RATER .SHE'S A BLAST IT'S A very nice pattern plane now!! NCRCNUT.

After having this plane for a little while sitting in the shop trying to figure out the power plant and paint scheme. I decided to go with the Turnigy 2826 2200kv brushless with a 50 amp esc, Tnano tech 3s 1600mah 25-50c battery, colet prop adapter swinging a Master Airscrew 7x3 prop (maximum on 3s per included motor specs) I used a GWS stick mount and moved the stick to the bottom hole to line up with the cowl. Make sure to give at LEAST 3 degrees right angle to offset the thrust line. I decided to remove the down angle and keep it straight since the wings are almost symetrical in shape. The plane weighs in right at 450grams so with this set-up I have just over a 2/1 ratio. DUMB down the throws, this joker is lightning fast!!!!!!! After maiden I know I need to stiffen the wings with an additional piece of carbon fiber and stiffen the tail section the same way to keep from excessive movement. This is a great flying plane!!!!! I followed Turkish flyer's CG recommendation closely (Thanks bro!!!) Even at slow flight it cruises around at 1/4 and 1/2 throttle! Floats in pretty good just need some runway or at least I do at this point, lol. I may buy another one just because the price is great. it is NOT epo, but a relatively good EPS (maybe EPP) Grab one up!

I would not recommend this product to anyone. I ordered it and the plane arrived with a broken wing. The foam is very brittle so I suspect the jarring of the box in shipping could have broken it. The issue is not the broken item the issue is getting anything done about the problem. I asked for a replacement wing and was told they don't carry them. I asked what I could do and was told to ship the plane back for a credit. funny the plane costs $35 and the shipping is $12 to send it back the cheapest way. Oh did I say they don't have another wing to replace it and this was a gift for my grandson. I don't intend to purchase anything from Hobby King again. This was just a POS last item on the shelf they managed to dump on me. When I called about this I was told they understood my concern and they could send me $8 for the cost of the wing I cannot buy anywhere. I asked about postage to send it all back and they did not allow that. This company is not going to treat you fairly I really don't know how they were approved for PayPal. Use them at your own risk they are a very large firm. They should be reported to the Better Business bureau but they are off shore so there is no point.

Although I haven't flown this aircraft yet (weather is too cold/snowy and miserable (winter 2013)), I'll give my non-flight observations and assessments of it for now. After closer inspection of this aircraft the foam is of pretty good quality. It's not quite that brittle ESP I've come to know. It seems to be more of a mixture (hybrid) of EPS and EPO foam. Seems pretty durable. In general this aircraft is a pretty good value, quality, and includes most of the required hardware. It has ample space and access for the internal electronics and battery (design is good). Also the wing area and span (length) is fairly large. The instructions aren't bad either with plenty of photos. Just add your motor, servos(3x9g servos), ESC, LiPo battery, and RX with TX and you should be good to go. {:-)

The plane does not look so nice, but when you cover the wing with yellow and add some decals, it looks much nicer.
The plane goes very nice flying. Rolls, loopings, everything is possible at high speeds. For the landing you need a high speed. At low speed it rolls automatically to the left.
Very good plane at an ever better price. Unfortunately the transport costs are higher than the price for the plane.
I now bought number 2 and 3.
