The FrSky Variometer sensor calculates the altitude from atmospheric pressure. Atmospheric pressure will get lower as you go up in altitude, using this the sensor will estimate the altitude. An exact display cannot be performed if atmospheric pressure changes in weather. The Variometer sensor also can output the Altitude Rate via DA port. Altitude Rate formula: (Output DA Voltage -1.65)/1.65=Altitude Rate speed/10.24.

Tres facile à mettre en oeuvre. Je l'utilise avec un Taranis X9D.I have several of these Varios, the latest one I received had a different chip in it:
A MS5607(20 cm resolution) instead of the more precise MS5611(10cm resolution).
But it works OKThe Vario I received recently has a MS5607 pressure sensor with only 20cm resolution, not the MS5611 with 10 cm resolution.I bought this to complete my set up with the frsky gps and frsky battery monitor, it's so simple to setup using the smartport. I use it with the taranis and the data that I receive is really helpful. The audio altimeter on the Taranis is great if you are a fair way away to let you know if you are climbing or falling. recomendedFantastic item, I use it all the time in all places and electronics. It seems a little more accurate than the standard one . doesn't jump around as much
am happy with it for the money ... does the job nicely.
The variometer works fine, following the instruction I have easily connected it to my FRSKY transmitter D8R-II Plus. Relative Altitude variation is correctly displayed on the FrSky FLD-02 Telemetry Display Screen with a precision of 1 meter.
The only problem I have found is the absolute altitude mode: here it display a value of 5626 meters. Well.. it is for sure wrong! :) Is there a way to calibrate it?
Unbelieveble precision of this thing! i was surprised how it can work by stand inside the fusellage with no air intake. anyway i think if you put it in a real glider scale 1/1 you will read exactly same values of the internal instruments (vario)
