Baja 1000, Dakar Rally, Finke or King of the Hammers, off road buggy racing is one of the most exciting, challenging and perilous forms of motorsport on the planet. Capable of speeds over 150km/h on off-road terrain, these buggies are spectacular to watch as they soak up the bumps and launch themselves off dunes.

Now you can have your own desert race in the backyard with the H.King Sand Storm 1/12 2WD Desert Buggy. Just like the real thing, this buggy is made tough with a robust tub style chassis, large grippy tires and a 1/10 scale servo to take the abuse it's bound to receive in your homegrown desert.

Because it has most of the adjustability of a race bred buggy you will be able to tune the Sand Storm to your local conditions and even get it to perform on a 1/10 off-road track.

The 4200kV motor in this buggy will give you plenty of punch for jumps and powering out rooster tails in the dust, it will even wheelie on grippy surfaces.

This is an incredibly good value buggy that will make you feel like Dakar has come to you!

Purchased 3 of these cars for Christmas gifts. Kids had a front end crash and they are all broken for the H-King Sand Storm 1/12 2WD Desert Buggy - Sub Chassis part, That has been on back order for over 6 months. So the are now just dust collectors. Don't waist your money on this one.

For the price this is a solid little buggy. My youngest managed to break the front chassis & plate with a crash. Now I'm waiting for the parts to be off backorder. I ordered this item BECAUSE I saw that HK had a full line of replacement parts, but if they aren't in stock there may be a long wait. :(

Pretty good little buggy. Just wished they stocked the recommended battery in the US location. I ran it with a Zippy 2S 1000 mAh Lipo and run time isnt very long. Strongly recommend getting the recommended battery. Pretty good in short grass and asphalt. gets stuck on medium yard grass. Other then that, good little buggy

Fun little car! Really zippy, this thing goes incredibly fast. I sometimes use it to exercise the dog because he has no chance of catching it unless I screw up. This is a really fun car and great for anyone who likes RC cars.

Price of a toy, but feels like a semi-pro.

This thing rocks out of the box. Just pop in a LiPo pack and 4 AAA's (LR03) and get ready to be amazed by something you paid this much (or should I say 'so little') for.

The transmitter looks and feels a bit cheap, though not as cheap as I've encountered before. Add to it the fact that you slap in standard batteries makes the sensation very '8-ties Nikko-style' (sorry for the generation not getting this wink).

But then you turn the thing on..

..that's where the eighties stop dead in their tracks, open a fresh pot of coffee and makes you smell 2015..

It's rapid enough for a lot of 'wow', but not so much it becomes a homing missile with a fried homing circuit. The steering is smooth and direct enough to perform controlled drifts, something

desirable in RWD vehicles.

The transmitter allows for dosed throttle, and has the standard but essential trim knobs and wheels. The magazine-like release and battery tray system is a nice touch on a pistol controller (sorry, the g33k is strong in this one ;) ).

Mind you, I bought this thing for my son, so I'm very happy with the steering-level wheel. Steering too abrupt with a RWD, especially when new to R/C, results in some nice looking spins you can

cover up by saying: "Just trying to drift, but I'm a little rusty", except when you're turning 7. (Yes, I know what you're thinking, but you should see his skills before thinking that ;) )

The car itself delivers plenty power,

Bought this as a gift for my brother. I'm happy with the product, but they charged me $16.18 at purchase to send it from the USA East warehouse to Utah, but then I had to pay another $26.45 to the post office or it would be returned and I'd have no gift for his birthday. It was AR warehouse that entered the shipping weight as 1 pound. I'm sure it doesn't cost $16 to send a 1 pound package that short a distance. HobbyKing made a mistake and they won't man up and refund my shipping cost. I opened a ticket and they continuously ignored me. They brag about how good they will treat a Platinum Customer, until it comes time to actually give some customer service. It's a shame ... I have bought a lot from HobbyKing and feel like I can't trust them now.

Great little buggy. Very fast and well made. Had some issues with some screws not being tight enough. I also broke the front part of the chassis after it rolled over at about half speed. However the part I broke was not in stock so have had to fix it myself. Other than that a great fast little car.

I bought the Sand Storm for my boy. Honestly, I'm more than well surprised. For less than 100 you have a great car. Suspension are very good, perform well on different type of terrain (grass, road, ...). It goes very fast and is very agile. You can adjust steering angle with a knob. Subtrims are also present to fine tune the steering.
One remark, the transmitter needs 4 AAA battery and not 4 AA like mentioned on the site.

The gears stripped on the first run. I was going gently on asphalt and the transmission let go. Very poor quality. My first HK car experience was not a positive one. Might be better with version 2 with metal gears.
