The high performance HK-500GT is 3D flight ready.
99% of parts are compatible with the Align T-rex 500
Much bigger than it''s smaller 450 brother, the 500GT is an exciting helicopter to see in action and even more exciting to fly. It''s 2024 alloy head ensures hard core 3D pilots wont be dissapointed in the performance and the beautifully painted cowl and Titanium anodized components make this a visually stunning helicopter with performance to back it up!
You wont find unecissary or poorly fitting ''bling'' alloy components on this heli. Alot of thought has been put into the production of this machine as seen by the FRN* tail which uses alloy only where its needed; in the arms and partially hidden belt pulley making it lighter with no sacrifice in strength; proving the heli''s no-bling all-performance attitude.
All parts are 100% compatible with T-Rex 500
Included are main and tail blades & Carbon Fiber boom supports.

We guarantee you wont find a better priced heli of this quality anywhere!

Only two days after placing the order I already received the kit from the EU warehouse! Blades felt stiff and the width was 38 mm. I also bought in the same time the HK500 GMT which came with 43 mm blade width.
The packaging of both kits was excellent and I was impressed by the high quality of the parts.
I did not assemble or fly yet, but up to now both kits perfectly meet my expectations.
Thanks Hobby King!

I purchased two of these recently and I'm glad I did it looks like I might be able to make one good one out of the two. The first kit had a scratched up chassis and the canopy was slightly cracked, but the moving parts all seem to be in good shape. The second kit had a better chassis, but the canopy was cracked severely and the main rotor has all sorts of weird motion; I suspect the links aren't set up correctly. This puts a real damper on the purchase; I kind of wish I hadn't bought these.

Had to replace all screws with higher quality screws. Main shaft was bent, but repairable. Oblong main gear also replaced. Fly's well.

This is quite good for the price, however there's a few things you must pay attention to.

The screws are very soft and strip easily if you tighten them down too hard. The tail hub that comes with these is downright dangerous, don't use it, even the upraded metal one from hk also came without thrust bearings and almost came apart. Get tarot or align blade grips and hub. Also get CF servo mount, and metal mixing and washout arms,

You'll also want an align main gear as the one that comes with it is out of round.

For the prices it's definately worth your while if you're willing to work with all the smaller problems. The frame, shafts, and parts over all are pretty good. You'll be happy with the end result after putting in some time.

great heli, more than happy. the size is a major increase from the 450 which surprised me.
as previously stated, don`t forget to ground your tail boom for static lockout reasons caused by the friction in the belt.

Built my HK-500. When taking the bits out of the box I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of metal parts in this kit. So initial impressions were good, all parts looked to be pretty well made, especially for this budget model. Canopy is horrid, but I knew that before purchase.

I had 'proper' align rear gearbox and head in my spares box, so decided to use these over the HK ones; the HK ones actually looked pretty good, but using my spare Align bits was all part of my plan when buying this kit.

Whilst I had the Align rear gearbox, I did use the HK rear blade grips, blades and tail slider as I didn't have align versions of those.

The kit went together well - time for a test-flight.

WARNING WARNING WARNING - my plastic rear blade grip exploded on the first flight (throttle set at ~70pcnt -> 1600kv motor, 6S, kit supplied pinion).

Thankfully the model was close enough to the ground that the catastrophic tail failure didn't end in total loss of the aircraft (obviously some damage that I need to fix). But more worryingly the exploding tail fragments hit my friend - luckily it didn't result in serious injury, but a few inches higher and they would have hit him in the face! He was ~5M away from the model by the way, so not irresponsibly close.

So, I might just have got the one and only unlucky one, but please consider the above when you use your HK-500 - especially for the f
