perfecting the Donkey

Mar 24, 2017

Mixed reviews for this product--mainly, I think, because of the bronze bushing rather than ball bearings. But there are two simple remedies. Cheapest and easiest is to remove the circlip, separate the rotor and stator and give the bushing a good slug of lube like Fluid Film (and repeat that as necessary. Alternatively, press out the 8mm o.d. bushing and replace it with a couple ball bearings (as shown in the pictures under the files tab). The bearings shown in the pictures are Hobby King part number, HK450V2, less than two dollars US for the pair. Also useable, and perhaps more durable, are bearings identified as L-840ZZ. Google that for several sources of cheap supply.

With either remedy, this motor is an obvious winner, an unqualified five crown quality product.

great motor for the price but it doesnt have any bearings. so after using for some while ( about 1 minute) it starts to reduce the rpm because of tempreture. anyway price is really attractive : )

be sure you use this motor with well balanced prop and spinner if you use. i stucked one of them with none balanced spinner.

Great motor, takes a beating! Used on a 40" fiberglass Lancair and had almost unlimited vertical! Used either a 7x7 or 8x8 with a 50amp birdie.
