Just another high wing trainer? We think not. The new HobbyKing® ™ EZ Master and Mini EZ Master are trainers at first glance, but once you fly them you'll see they're everything; trainer, sport plane, aerobat. Moulded of tough EPO foam, a bright graphical colour scheme makes them look good in the air, and durable when they inevitably hit the ground. Both the EZ Master and Mini EZ Master airframes feature tricycle undercarriage with a steerable nose wheel, bolt on wing, and full 4 channel control, including dual aileron servos for great roll response! Open the box and you are greeted with a low parts count, and minimal assembly. Go from the workbench to the flying field in less time than it takes to charge the batteries!

Take-offs are short and sweet due to the powerful brushless outrunner motor, with landings a breeze due to the light wing loading of both models. We have had a blast flying these planes during all of our testing and video shoots. They're stable when you want to relax, but push the throttle forward and slam the sticks into the corners and she wakes up. Inverted flight requires some down elevator due to the flat bottom airfoil, though the mild dihedral angle makes rolls as axial as one would expect from a high wing trainer. Kick in a little rudder at the top of hard climb outs and do crisp stall turns back to the downline.

Both the EZ Master and its little brother, the Mini EZ Master are available in two versions, Plug and Fly (PNF) and Almost Ready to Fly w/ Motor (ARF)

• Plug and Fly - Just install your choice of transmitter and micro receiver

If given another chance, I would avoid this model. It is not necessarily bad, but was very poorly assembled. The nose wheel came with the WRONG sized grab screw, that got jammed before it could grab the wheel. I had to spend $15 to get a screw extraction bit to get it out AND I had to go hunt for a matching grab screw. 2 of the servos were weak/bad and would skip when close to max deflection. This has caused 2 crashes which I fixed with glue. The rear joints that hold the wing is very weak and will get pulled out when doing loops. I glued it in after it got loose. The main landing gear is garbage and got lose after a few successful landings (no crash, no nose over). It's screwed to a very small plastic piece which is just embeded, and not glued to the fuse. When the foam deforms, it got real lose.

After fixing all those problems, the plane flew OK. Not amazing, but OK for the price if it came without the problems. I spend 20 hours to hunt needed parts and fix what should've been right from the factory.

I wouldn't recommend this size to a beginner. This has fragile landing gear, control services offer LOTS of fast aerobatic movement, and the servos (especially for rudder) are mediocre at best. The reason the rudder fails so much for people is because it has the most load/shock due to front landing gear. Change it with an hxt500 and you can get by with the stock servos for aileron/elevator. It flies fast and it does not like to fly slow at all. I was able to balance it with 850mAh battery but it is a tight fit. I recommend ditching the velcro it comes with, velcro a strip for battery, velcro the esc, and let RX stay free so you can move it around. Pack everything under the hatch nice and neat and fly. It is fun but definitely not for beginners.

Do not try to land this on grass as the front wheel is attached to the motorplate. I tried to soflty land this plane but broke the plastic because of some bumps on the ground. Still can fly without the landing gear and lots of vibrations.
Also, when crashing directly on your wing you will brake the mountingplate for the wing. Some tape will do great though. still flies...

Firstly, the pnf version as many report comes with very low quality servos. This is not an exaggeration. Two servos failed whilst setting this model up. they dont centre correctly, they buzz whilst they are static and one of the two stripped teeth. The remaining two that did not fail although working can be seen to be imprecise. So, if you do buy this then you will need to replace all of the servos or buy the arf version and fit servos of your choice. However, this is sold as a trainer model. A trainer model should be relatively easy to fly, stable and able to withstand training type accidents. It flies ok, but it is not especially stable, it wont be hard to fly if you are used to flying something more than a true high wing trainer model, but this is more like a second model. It has many structural weak points, it wont survive a moderate to light nose in without substantial damage to the fuselage. The nose wheel mounting is so flimsy that this will break with just a heavy landing, never mind a "training accident" Given that this is a "new" hobbyking trainer its a disappointment. The bigger and heavier axn floater will survive much more punishment from a beginner and is probably easier to fly. For the money, its not a cheap aircraft, spending 20pcnt more from more traditional sources will buy an aircraft that is twice as good.

Received my order in 4 days. Great packaging - no damage. Assembly is quick and easy. The only complaint is trying to get everything to fit in the tiny battery/electronics compartment. Maiden flight went off without a hitch. Balanced perfect at 30mm with a 500 mah battery. Great fun to fly. Go easy on the landings.

I have tried to destroy this plane with lots of bad landings but it keeps coming back. Reinforced the landing gear by gluing a piece of plastic to the underside. For the wing placed some CA down tunnels around the plastic retainer and put in some plastic pegs to anchor it in place. Added a bit of Cello tape over the top of the wing to reinforce after some heavy landings. Can use standard CA glue. Cracked the entire fuselage after a heavy stack - glued 1/16th balsa down each side Use a 1000mAh 3 cell and get 17 minutes at 1/2 throttle* 10 if using full. Will do vertical - have increased prop to 8x6. Take off on 40pcnt throws and then go full! Needed to replace servos after a while. Highly recommended plane

This trainer is absolutely amazing!

Very easy to build, just need to glue the stabilizer and connect it's rod and if i remember correctly, that's it!!!

The plane came with a defective servo (The rudder/front wheel) which i've replaced with a new one.

Accept of this, everything is working perfectly and the plane flys and lands fantastic!!!

I had to add only 10g of front weight to balance it, if you want a bit more front weight you can add 5g more.

I've used zippy compact 850mah and it holds for up to 10 minutes of flying time.

The only problem with this plane is the very small cabinet for the battery and receiver which makes it difficult to close the battery door.

Good bye..

A great plane to fly even for the more advance pilots, you can tame it down for the beginner or let it loose for some fun. I bought this plane for my 8 year old some as I have started to train him using a buddy cord. Well build plane easy to fly, handles short to medium grass well on take-off and landing for the small wheels that are on this plane. You might want to check your servos to make sure they are secure(held in my 2 screws) as the Rudder and Elevator servos in the EZ Master I received were loose, I just added some hot glue to the ends of them. Also the landing gear mount that the gear screws into can come loose after a few bumpy landings on grass, best to hot glue the mount in place as well. A side from some servo buzzing I haven't had any issues with the Rudder servo as indicated in a couple of the other reviews. Over all a fun plane to fly.

The plane looked great when it arrived. However in it's maiden flight it sustained a very minor crash, it fell in a shallow angle against sand from may be 12 feet and at half throttle.

I walked to the crash site not expecting anything but may be a bent propeller. When I arrived I saw that the plane's fuselage had split open in two halves and that the entire motor/nose section had detached and was hanging only by the ESC wires. I had never seen anything like it.

May be mine was defective since both halves of the fuselage seemed no too have welded together properly during manufacture. Anyway looking at the wreckage I could see that the entire engine support was extremely weak and that the foam seemed quite flimsy. I would not buy again or recommend as a trainer.
