revision to an other review (good quad)

Dec 14, 2017

my first impressions are good. solid frame, well laid out. I was trying to flash the flight controller and cleanflight was saying it was a non cleanflight version firmware on the board.
Well 2 days reading and i found someone saying unplug everything from the controller, and i did. now i can flash the board and all is good with this quad.
i forgot to save the original setting from the controller so setup may take a little longer but overall im very pleased with my purchase.
UNPLUG everything from the controller if you are having flashing issues.

like this little machine...runs ok. But I was - again - sick and tired with manual provided. Hobbyking really needs to get into business of INFORMING/GUIDING new quad customers decently in manuals. I have written this before with other products from hobbyking, but still we buy stuff that we by ourselves have to figure out. And with "Little technical" knowledge we really needs help...via small video etc. that explain all basic concerning installing etc., right from start with connecting what colour wire where and so on. It cannot be true that every time I buy something from HK I have to juggle around the internet for hours to find solutions for my new investments...

Pros:
-robust and sturdy frame
-nicely made, good materials used
-very stable flight after some tuning
-flight time 8 min with 1500 mAh (no 3D, smooth flight)
Minor issues:
-screws were getting loose and doped in flight. One must glue or fasten them.
-reconfiguration with computer requires jumpers switching each time (otherwise OSD stays off)
-motor power cables soldering was weak, they detached after hard landing
-there is no room for FPV transmitter inside frame. Installed below fuselage exposes it to damage
-lack of spare parts (I may be wrong, but I could not find them so far)

Ok after lots of curisng and cussing heres my review. The FC isnt naze32 its a knock off which in turn is a knock off of Naza BUT it works the same its easy to configure. I had some issues i couldnt get power to my reciever or video this caused so much hassle and hair pulling eventually i stripped it all down and found the problem the 5v pin for video and reciever were bent over and squashed on the naze board ports. The other issue is it wont ARM unless i assign a switch which then causes me problems changing modes. So im currently flying in ACRO mode all time i will sort it eventually but its no biggy. Also locktite everything you can even the prop hubs ive lost two already and 2 of the screws came out during flight.

This quad flies like a dream , so easy to fly The board is great with the built in osd .
Some concerns about the way its designed , too much integration for my taste and the esc should be in th arms not hogging all the real estate on the main body .. there is no where to place a receiver neatly in the frame .

the manual is usless and dosent explain enough about the switches , and the supplied vtx lasted 3 mins before it died ..the whole quad smacks of proprietry style build and is too intergrated for my liking ..the only real plus is the control board with the built in osd , and the ability to change pids in the osd menu .

Nettes Gert.

Although this is supposed to be a ready-to-fly product the quality control completely screwed that up.
None of bolts were fixed with locktite, which meant a motor got lose and tore off from the solder point the first minute of flight. Even though the motors and frame have 4 mounting holes, only 2 were used per motor. Pretty much all the bolts in the front half were lost as well.

I would not recommend this to a beginner and a pro would not bother of course, the performance of this quad is below standard and replacing arms, etc requires complete disassemble.

The integrated voltage regulator on the power distribution board is low-quality and the PCB traces are to thin to handle the current. So it got fried almost instantly.

So now I'm stuck having to order the replacement parts from the international store since the EU does not stock those.

I have bought this , Nice manual ,Good product! I disconnnected the LEDS they make flighttimes shorter, i used my 3D printer to make a plate to lift the battery above my reciever. Now i can fit my gopro. It is 570g With gopro 4 , 3s 1500mah 40c battery. I get around 6 min flighttime. If somone is interested in the CAD file of the upgrade part, please feel free to contact me.
