WARNING! I received mine with a 5mm shaft, not 6mm as informed on specification above! HK should correct this information!

motor was great and ran cool with tons of torque....for about 20 minutes. the shaft separated from the rotor and the motor is now useless to me. some people say you can glue the rotor to the shaft with green loctite or JB weld, but i ended up getting a better quality motor.

so, if you add some form of extra glue to the rotor and shaft, this motor is great. my other KB motor ran for 3 hours (non-cont.) before it's shaft separated from the rotor.

KB45 in Emaxx

Nov 14, 2007

I'm very happy with this motor, it does produce massive torque at a bargain price. I measured 1490kV under no load.

I am using it in an Emaxx at 6S to keep the current down. I've recorded peak power usage around 1500W which is more than enough for the heavy truck.

Its not too quick to heat up but the the temp does continue to climb so I've added two stretched 540 heatsinks and a 50mm fan (did not want to drill endbell holes to let dirt in) and now I can keep it below 70C after 10min.

I believe the magnets don't like to go above 80C so temps need to be watched carefully.

The rotor balance isn't that great, vibration can be felt when free revving the motor. And the bearings don't seem that smooth either. But so far the KB45 has held up well to the abuses of offroad driving and thats all I want it to do.

great motor for the money, real strong, only thing missing is ventilation holes in the front and the back, as it tends to run a little hot.
