A result of 3 years in research and development these Taiwanese manufactured 74mm EDF units are on the cutting edge of EDF design.

The duct unit is made from aircraft grade high tensile Aluminum alloy to improve performance and help reduce deformity of the duct during installation. The 10 fan blade is the first in the world to use high tensile aluminum alloy, A result of 18 months of wind-tunnel tests and Computer Aided Evaluation. The fan unit reduces high speed deformation by 90%, compared to a conventional ABS or plastic fan.

All Moto-turbine parts are manufactured using precision CNC machine tools in Taiwan. CNC machining enables a high level of acuaracy in the manufacturing proccess and ensures strict tolerances can be maintained. Each fan is also factory dynamically balanced.

In conventional ducted fan design, the motor is secured to the stator hub while the fan secured to the motor shaft.  During operation, any imperfection in either the motor or fan will cause both the fan and motor to vibrate at a certain resonance frequency.  The oscillation can cause the blade tip to rub against the shroud of the duct.  Moto-turbine’s 3-bearing system reduces resonance vibration by 90%.

Looks good.. but there the pros end. Runs but makes one hell of a racket. Thrust is very very low. Not suitable for rc planes on spesified cell counts. Manufacturer just makes stupid excuses and does not own up. I have tested more than one of these units. Unfortunately none work as described.

Garbage. All units have random kv -> random thrust. nowhere even close to specs. Dont waste your money.

70A and almost 1000watts and very nice sound! Much better than Cs and Dr. Mad Thrust. Runns very smooth.
Thrust and Ampere not as described but still good value.
I will buy another Mercury sice Edf!

I received it an tested on 4s. Draw 70A! Weight is 303g not 264g. Very nice EDF. I will never buy different ones than the Mercury EDF in the future. It runs very smooth and has really good thrust. I definitely recommend it.

I put one into a H.K Meteor. Sounds brilliant!
Performance is better than the Dr Madthrust I had used previously. The Dr Madthrust sounded horrid by comparison.
I did mistakenly run 5s with the Mercury and it blasted around! Not sure how long it would last as the Dr Madthrusts burnt out very quickly on 5s.
Plenty of power and thrust on 4s, not outstanding but very nice.
Worth very cent!

Have just published some A/WP numbers in Discussion . I have put this in to my HK Vampire.
Will fit but a lot of work to do so.

This is a remarkable EDF unit. As soon as you see it you realise what a staggeringly good piece of engineering it is. Almost too good for a rc model, more like something that should be in a NASA spaceship! Then when you start it up and you hear that wonderful sound - the sound of a gorgeously engineered product - you know it was worth every cent. Yes, it costs more than most EDFs, but it produces genuinely more thrust, and it is clearly a marvellous high-end product.
By the way, this 74mm unit can replace a plastic 70mm unit in many cases (because the Mercury's alloy housing is thinner than plastic housings, it will fit in a plane designed to accept a 70mm unit with perhaps only a millimetre or two of airframe adjustment.) I replaced a cheap 70mm unit with this 74mm unit and achieved TWICE the thrust! Staggering!
