Packing and Assembling problems

Mar 23, 2019

There are some problems:
Packing
1- Rear landing gear wire is missing, servo arms are missing
Assembling:
2- Mating of the wing saddlers, Rx tray, motor and stab to the carbon stick are very tight and because of that the carbon square stick got cracked and I used a new one.
3- Motor cable are reverse hooked to the motor.

Nice airplane, but no replaceable parts!

Feb 15, 2017

If you are considering buying a Von Stik, be very careful. The quality and price are great, it's a nice little airplane, albeit a little fast for the average gym size indoor flying space. I bought seven of these little planes for guys in our indoor flying group. We had been flying Embers, but they are no longer available, and ours were getting pretty ancient. Out of the seven planes, even before we got to use them, two have failed, both I thought because servos had failed, but upon testing it appears that the receiver has partially failed, it works the rudder but not the elevator in both cases. I have spoken to HK and hopefully they are replacing both models. The thing is you cannot get replacement receivers for these planes, and also you can't bind them to another transmitter, so if you have a problem you need a complete airplane to get the Rx and Tx matched. I'm not even sure you can get replacement servos.

The von stik will do the trick

Dec 14, 2016

I took a gamble and picked up a pair of von stiks, in my order I got a couple of 500 mah 1s batteries. When the plane arrived, the speed control had jst connectors and the battery didn't. I swapped the connector on the battery and plugged it into the provided charger and I was flying in no time. The all up flying weight is 2.75 oz. this means the little von stik has great authority. Climb out is 30 degrees or better. Most flights are at half throttle. Flight times last about 6 minutes safely without bloating the battery. To my knowledge there is no safe voltage cut. I like everything about the system except a few details. I wish the rudder was bigger. This would help calm down full throttle climb outs, and the wing incidence is too great. I ended up making a 1/8 balsa spacer under the rear of the wing to reduce the incidence. This really helped the throttle induced climb. Last tip is to make sure you add dihedral to the main wing before flight. The wing is very flat and doesn't fly very well that way. After my minor tweaks, the plane flys like it is much larger. The motor performance is good for a brushed unit. All parts fit together well. I wished the kit came with some set of instructions. The locations of the parts on the air frame stick are gestimations until you find the CG. Once that's done lock everything down with CA glue and go fly. If someone asked me to recommend this plane would I? I'd say yes if this wasn't your first 3 channel plane. As it does fly good, the pico stick and slow stick were better handling flyers.
