Mini Fabrikator 3D Printer by Tiny Boy will blow you away with the quality of print a little machine can produce, it is comparable to big machines many, many times the price. Our aim with bringing this printer to market was to offer our customers a cost effective way to try out 3D printing with a footprint that can accomodate most hobbyist's early projects. Because of the small overall size of this printer it will fit in even the most restricted of work spaces and can be picked up and easily stored, making it ideal for schools and students.

The original TinyBoy printer was designed Parker Leung around a concept that by 2016 every student should have the opportunity to have a 3D printer on their desk; the youth is our future and this is part of the reason why we got behind it. The other reason was because of the incredible print quality you can achieve in this printer for such a low cost.

Like any computer hardware the Mini Fabrikator needs software to run it, we recommend to use Repetier-Host as the printing software as it is a simple to set up and use program that most customers will have up and running in about 15 minutes. Other than this the printer is ready to go.

We have also partenered with Tiny Boy so you are able to use their community to discuss your Mini Fabrikator with other users, share ideas and show off your lastest print projects. You will also find other useful tips and tricks, Repetier-Host settings, copy of the manual and keep up to date with the latest news from the Tiny Boy team. Click here to find out more.

Tiny Boy was originally designed as a learning activity where school students would build the printer themselves, this means the printer is incredibly easy to maintain and service yourself and even upgrade with things like LED lights, direct cooling, LCD screen and SD card slot or even a heated print bed.

This is an amazing little machine. Right out of the box it makes great prints. A couple words though. The X-axis stepper motor likes to get SUPER hot whether you have the machine elevated or whether you have it sitting on a laptop cooler. Hot enough to melt the acrylic mounting. To fix this I attached a 25mm heat sink on the back of the motor, drilled a couple 1/4 holes next to the vent, then made and printed a shroud, and added a 25mm fan. The shroud is here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1090263 . For the 25mm fan you go 12v and tap off incoming power, or go 5v and use power off the control board. Wish I could post pics here to illustrate.
This is my first printer and its made it super easy to get into the hobby. A couple little tweaks are a prudent idea but overall this thing is worth every penny.

I can only give this 3 stars because out of the box it did not work right. First off you need to be sure to download the 1.0.6 version of Repetier Host not the newest one or there will be info you need that is not in the book or files. Second is that this unit needs feet to keep it off the table or it will overheat and melt the plastic where the lower right side stepper motor is attached. Hobby King needs to provide these feet at you will not be able to make them until you resolve the over heating issue first. I finally figured out what was happening after several failures and reading some comment online and reviews. Someone on the UK side had made comments on heat issues and that was when I put mine on a bakers rack and put a fan on it that it started to work. I removed the 3 screws that hold that stepper motor and replaced them with new screws with washers to keep them from pulling through as when they heat up the screw heads get hot and melt the plastic, the motor gets loose and then it is all down hill from there.

I got the Mini Fabrikator 3D Printer by Tinyboy just the other day. I took it out of the box and inspected the build quality and made sure the belts were tensioned properly, nothing looked like it was binding, and that everything was secured seemingly properly.
It took only about 5 minutes to download Repeater-Host and get it setup. I plugged in the printer and tested the 'manual controls' and adjusted the bed height (VERY IMPORTANT!!! DO THIS!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1aLddsEQu0). I popped in the STL file of the printer feet, put four in one print and pressed the magic PRINT button. about 45 minutes later I had 4 feet for my new printer!
I've made many prints since I got it, and each one has turned out looking GREAT! The printer is extremely capable and put out very high quality pieces. I'd recommend this printer to anyone who is interested in 3D Printing, or someone who wants a small mobile unit to print small parts!

I seem to have a nak for finding the short comings of everything, overall nice neat little printer only major flaw is the X axis motor gets to hot and can melt the mounting area causing a skipping in the x axis prints PLA and ABS without a heated bed! glad I have it will be better after repair.

Overall and so far, good value for the price. Shipping was horrible. it took mine over 14 days to get with no good details until it randomly showed up. A friend got his within 3 days... seems like mine may have been stuck in customs? not really sure. Instructions are good (could be a bit better). Watch the videos if you have some issues. Quality of the print has been good so far. We noticed the motors (X,Y,Z) run hot. So we've been running a fan on them, plus turned them down. For the price, its a good way to try out 3D printing before dropping the $$$ on a better quality system. I would rate me as a rookie in 3D print world and I was able to get it working very easily.
