Another excellent build in our Quanum Outlaw Racing Series. The Outlaw 180 comes pre-built so just add a receiver and battery and you are ready to go.

Outlaw 180

Jan 23, 2017

Was doubting to Buy this at first because of the low rating, as this is my first pnp quad. Also my other quads are equiped with the naze32 FC.

I Am happy i did buy.
the quad is build well and wired very clean out of the box.

I flashed it with librepilot and it flew pretty good and stable with the default settings.
Tweaked the pid's and it flies really well, good locked-in feeling and crisp reactions to the input.

swapped the 5" props for 4045 Bull nose props. As the 5" props hit the frame in forward flight.
More than enough power on 3s

Because the electronics are placed below the main deck there is a lot of room to build in your receiver and fpv equipment.

Overall a good pnp quad, good value for the money

I have bee using this from a while now, while i'm trying to improve my skills.
First i've bought a walkera runner 250, but it went down 3 times without any pilot error, due to some cold soldering between esc and motors.
This quanum outlaw it does not fly perfectly right out the box, but after few tweaks with pids it became very stable and fun to fly.
As other stated it is needed to mode it a little bit, to make sure the propellers does not hit the top plate. It is also a pain in the ... to install a FPV kit, and you have to pay attention to size of the camera and the Vtx.
It does fly nice and steady, can be fast enough even for an intermediate pilot, and quite resilient, enduring some crashes whit ease.
For someone who just get started, or what to start into drone-racing, this is a fun little quad that can help him or she to learn.

I found this quad easy to set up. I updated the control board and used LibrePilot to set it up. I did see several complaints about the front props striking the frame in the camera area. The quad did come with GemFan 5030 props. The 5" prop will not work without frame modifications to the front. I am running GemFan 4040 three blade props which clear the frame and the camera mount. Hey Hobbyking - please package this quad with 4" props - I did fly very gently with the 5" props and found the tips of the front props impacted the top camera mounting nuts, took the tips of the props off. Any high G maneuvers would have broken the props and caused a crash.

Cheap, easy to get flying, strong.
I use triblade 4040-4050 props, and this gives more room for camera-setup.
Very clean wiring from factory, so its easy to install vtx and reciver.

Props are basically built to flow through the frame. Which mean it difficult to put a came or receiver on the bottom plate.
Other than that it was the single most stable flying quad out of the box ive ever purchased,
It would be perfect for line of site.

I purchased the ARF version and found there are major problems with prop clearance in the front section. you can see from there are deliberate cutouts from the factory for the rear props, but in the front the props run underneath the top deck and make contact with the camera mount bolts in fast forward flight when the props flex upwards. after many chat sessions and beating my head against a wall, HK product specialist recommended using a 4 inch prop as a solution. UNACCEPTABLE!! especially when the product claims to be ready for 5 inch props. My solution was to dremmel clearance into the top plate, except this has the effect of deleting the top mounts for fpv camera. overall after the mod, the quad flies nicely. the update firmware is fairly simple. Just wish it worked as advertised and I didn't have to beta test this one for them.
