The latest version of the Phoenix glider has a 1380mm wingspan and as per the 1600mm / 2000mm versions, the airframe only takes 15 minutes to assemble and lasts a lifetime! The wings and tail are made from tough EPO foam. However, the fuselage is made from a super strong blow moulded nylon skin with plywood formers, making it almost indestructible. The virtually indestructible fuselage is smooth and rigid yet still light enough for the glider to perform. The main wing is joined together with a plywood spar and adhesive (included), whilst the tail section is screwed firmly into place. The wings are secured to the fuselage using rubber bands which is great for a beginner, for in the event of a heavy wing down arrival the wing will detach from the fuselage and hopefully will not get broken which is highly likely if the wing is firmly bolted into place .

The main wing includes 1 servo per aileron for strong control surface movement. All 4 9g servos, 20 Amp speed controller and brushless outrunner are pre-installed. Just add your own transmitter / receiver and battery to be flight ready! This really is a super strong glider that will have you flying in no time at all.

Having already a Skyhawk, which has an identical fuselage and tail but different wing, I was curious what this bird would be like.
The Phoenix 1380 will not disappoint you. She can stand some wind but also thermals quite well. She is agile and the rudder is so effective that you could easily fly without ailerons. Very stable flight, no stalling, a good beginner's plane if needed.
Bad points: User's manual no good, motor mounted with only 2 screws, as all holes cater for a 16/19mm mounting system while the motor mount is actually 19/19mm. Sloppy really.
The bell type motor (unknown KV) will have the wires cut through the first time the sticky tape that's holding them in place will come off. So a little engineering is called for.
Both wings came with considerable "hangar rash" and needed lots of putty. Then a servo died on the maiden. A motor short I managed to fix it. Servos look like good quality in spite of this!
The spinner/propeller/motor are not well balanced and not really powerful enough for me, maybe OK for you? Try it.

I took one of those. With 2200mAh battery it turned out that the airplane is too heavy to flight. I started it from hand and with throttle at maximum it made a graceful gliding down until landing several meters from launch. I am looking now for bigger propeller and engine.
