Product Description

HobbyKing Premium 3D printing filaments set the new gold standard in 3D filaments. Print with strong, flexible filament to create spare parts, artworks and 3D models. Silk PLA filament is a composite PLA with the main component being PLA and with other components such as polyester. It provides a great looking filament that is shiny or silky and has a semi-translucent look.

HobbyKing Premium PLA has a lower melting point and prints easier than other materials. One of the most important features is that PLA is non-toxic, and even has a sweet smell when printing. PLA has a low shrinkage rate and it is very rigid with minimal flex. This material can print extremely high-resolution models and is perfect for a wide range of uses. Silk PLA is excellent for large prints as it has low shrinkage and has a better toughness and surface gloss than normal PLA.

PLA has a huge range of vibrant colors and opacity for that perfect look whether it is artistic or utilitarian, in short, great material for 3D printing. PLA can be printed without the use of a heat bead and can stick to glass or a PCB plate with a binder such as hairspray or white glue for a curl-free print.

Not a true Gold color nor silky.

This filament is not a gold color, it is more like a dull bronze finish. It is not "silky" looking either. My test print (see Files section) of a dog showed it to be a bit stringy also. Not sure what I can use this filament for now. Will figure something out.

Not as gold or silky as I'd like

While as solid and predictable as all the Hobbyking Premium filament I have tried, the colour left a lot to be desired. was more of a dark bronze than what I would expect from a Silk Gold. The colour in the picture is accurate on the spool but the print colour is more matte. Still good quality filament.

It prints fine but the color is wrong. It is way to dark and has no metal look. It is a dull brown color and does not look like gold at all.

This product has no consistency of diameter - it jams in the printer and spoils the desired outcome. I cannot recommend this product, and will never buy it again.
