First flown in 1916 and then put in to service on the western front in 1917 The S.E.5a was an instrumental aircraft in gaining and maintaining allied air superiority during the first world war. Although the S.E.5a was initially frowned upon in it's early days it's advantages over the less capable S.E.5 and Sopwith Camel soon gained the S.E.5a popularity with fighter pilots of its era. The S.E.5a was credited with many victories in the hands of the Allied air forces top Aces.

Now you can fly in to battle at the front line of your local airfield with your very own Scout Experimental 5a. Featuring balsa and ply wood built up construction, scale wheels and a detailed cowl the S.E.5a will make a Fine addition to any WW1 air craft collectors hanger. The  S.E.5a comes with all the hardware required for either a Nitro or EP setup including a 260cc fuel tank.

The SE5a has got to be the best and easiest to fly WWI aircraft converted to RC. I have now three different RC SE5A's, including this one. Although this one is clearly not perfect scale, it's a blast to fly, and actually flies better as a stunt plane than my more scale versions! I gave it a 4 star versus a 5 star only because the instructions are not very good (you can download them as they are not in the package) and it's a challenging build.

A verry nice and good Quality Plane.
There is NO USERMANUAL in the Box !!
About this, the time to build the Plane maybe up to 15 hours.

PLEASE SEND ME AN USERMANUAL

Greetings from Germany

I bought this because it was cheap. The issues regarding short wings, lack of detail etc. I was aware of so it was not a major drama to re-work the model to my requirements, adding a heavier firewall, strengthening the stab.,detailing the cockpit, etc.I installed my good old T.T.54F.S,swinging a 13x4 slow -fly prop.I test flew it today, very pleased with the outcome! When you think that 25 rears ago,you would expect to pay the equivalent of A$600 for a box of parts, spend months building to achieve this sort of result,it makes this model-even with its shortcomings-an excellent buy.

I posted a video review of this in the Discussions TAB. Overall I'd say 3 1/2 stars. This plane is not for the novice builder and the lack of instructions definitely don't help. It's not very scale looking with the top wing being shorter in width than the bottom. In saying that the covering is of good quality and the plane makes up for it looks in the way it flies, which is VERY GOOD. If the wing was fixed I'd 4 1/2 stars, if you can get past the looks then this is pretty good value for money IMO.

Type your review here.

Try to include as much data as possible.Good quality laser cut ply and balsa .The finish is pretty good it is semi scale as you would expect for this price.Has potential of more scale apperance with added guns ,manifold and pilot. No manual with it ,if any one can help with instructions my main concern is getting the C.G right,When I get it built I will post more details.
