The XtremeAir Sbach 342 is a German high performance two-seat aerobatic and touring monoplane designed by Philipp Steinbach with Albert Mylius and built by XtremeAir GmbH of Hecklingen.

The Sbach 342 has a composite structure and is powered by a 315 hp Lycoming. Working previously for Walter Extra developing the Extra series of aerobatic airplanes, Steinbach brought together modern materials, years of experience and optimized design bringing the world one of the most agile aerobatic planes ever.

Our Sbach 342 comes out of the box in a plug and fly configuration. All surfaces are pre hinged, just needing some minor assembly and receiver installation to be ready for flight. Accessing the battery is super easy through an access hatch on the top of the fuselage that has handy little plastic snaps. The front cowl and bottom receiver hatch feature these same quick snaps as well. The wings are a 2-piece plug-in design meaning storage and transport take minimal room. A complete hardware pack with extensive decal sheet round out the model.

Flying the Sbach is the real treat. The powerful 4023 1000kv motor pulls the it through all your favorite manuevers. This is a very rigid model with enough mass to carry it through manuevers smoothly, not floating about like some light weight foamies do.

Features:
• Plug and Fly - Just add your choice of battery, transmitter and receiver
• Molded EPO airframe
• 2 Piece plug-in wings
• Rugged aluminum landing gear
• Cowl, battery hatch and receiver hatch secured with quick snaps
• Ample power and extreme flight characteristics

Great Flying Model

Jul 19, 2017

These are fantastic flyers - am ordering a second just in case something happens as don't want to be without this model.
I glued my tail on and am still using the foam hinging (is cracking but still together) have had a lot of flying with this model as it flys so well. Easy Knife Edge, rolls and rolling circles - model has a good consistent speed not accelerating too much downhill so easy to get uphill and downhill to match. Flys really slowly without letting go, spins nicely and stops instantly - really love flying this one as it makes you look good.

98% easy build

Dec 21, 2016

Definitely it's not for beginners who wants to learn fly. But its perfect for intermediates who likes to learn 3D stunts and aerobatics. Nice decently fast air craft with plenty of power.very easy build.all fits perfectly except for 2 screws, but thats all right. The elevator is lighty curved downside , i dont know if its intended but it did not make much of a difference after trimming.its extremely worth the price with its performance . The package was well secured . Im extremely happy about the product.

Dec 17, 2016

Don't tell it is so hard to build this...one of the easiest builds, even for a beginner. The foam used is ok. The elevator is lightly twisted downwards . I dont know if its factory set up. But overall it is a very bery beautiful aircraft. I love this. Just a minor thing .. two or three screws dont perfectly fit..but its great

Enjoying my Sbach

Oct 28, 2016

Despite a few assembly woes this is a decent airplane for the money. If you have building experience the little items that need improvement are not a big deal. If you just like to open the box and go fly, better select another model, this one might frustrate you? As others have stated, the hardware package isn't the best but workable. Best to just glue the tail on. Hinges were required on my rudder. So far elevator and ailerons are stock. My prop was horribly out of balance. Use a little Gorilla Glue on the wheel pants to keep them from slipping. I added 14 grams of lead weight to the nose to bring it into proper CG with a 2200 3 cell. It is fun to fly. I do lots of touch and goes off our club's grass runway with aerobatics in between. It is great for this. As far as 3D goes...I don't do 3D so really can't comment. I suspect however that if 3D is a priority, you could probably find something better? Overall I like this airplane. It gets flown a lot.

Sbach 342 PNF 1100mm is certainly not for beginners or even intermediate flyers.

This model has taken a bunch of hits during the maiden / setup process. I will give it credit for being reasonably easy to repair the fuse, however is definitely needs a spar running lengthways down the fuse to address the weak point at the landing gear.

Definitely an unforgiving model with regards to CG, make sure you mark the CG points (90mm behind leading edge at cockpit) and get the balance right before attempting flight to save yourself alot of heartache.

I ran dual rates with 40pcnt throws and 70pcnt expo for low, and 100pcnt throws and 70pcnt expo in high and still found it to be plenty responsive.

I recommend hinge tape or Pivot & round Hinges (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__8280__Pivot_Round_Hinges_2_5x43_10pcs_.html) on the elevator / rudder as the foam hinge didn't last more than 30mins flight time.

All in all it flys beautifully once you get it right and has plenty of power (I'm using 3s1p Turnigy 2200's happily), but be prepared to repair and replace parts during the maiden process.

Waste of money, very poor finish and build quality, missing screws. Starting building it before realizing what rubbish it was so it was too late to return it. I would not recommend this product. I am very disappointed.

Haven't flown yet but finished putting together. Some servo horn screws were missing, but I had some on hand. 4 screws for mounting the wings were too short but found some at local stines , found some 3mmx50mm that worked. I also had to put servo extension leads on wing servo's because I am using separate channels for them. A y lead was included that will work fine if you are using one channel for the wings. Tail section seems a little flimsy because only 2 small screws hold the horizontal and vertical together. I will probably epoxy the section together after I test fly, it should be fine. Everything else seems to be good, except I'm not that good at putting all the decals on, took me a couple of hours just for that. For the money it's a nice plane and should fly great. I really like the cooling design that runs in from engine cowl and exits through mid tail section. That should keep the electronics cool.

It's a Volantex product. The plane looks nice and flies ok, but the left wing is missing the spar tube!!! had to heat up the metal spar and make my way in the foam wing core.

Sbach 342 1100mm

May 07, 2016

Sbach 342 PNF 1100mm Foam was not straight anywhere nothing lined up including elevator and the rudder wasn't anywhere near straight I've got plenty of hobbyking models but this one was the most disappointing. Also lost the battery hatch first flight.
