The de Havilland DH 82 Tiger Moth is a 1930s biplane designed by Geoffrey de Havilland and was operated by the Royal Air Force (RAF) and others as a primary trainer during and post WWII. The Tiger Moth remained in service with the RAF until replaced by the de Havilland Chipmunk in 1952, when many of the surplus aircraft entered civil operation. Many other nations used the Tiger Moth in both military and civil applications, and it remains in widespread use as a recreational aircraft in many countries.

In postwar use, large numbers of surplus Tiger Moths were made available for sale to flying clubs and individuals. They proved to be inexpensive to operate and found enthusiastic reception in the civil market, taking on new roles including aerial advertising, aerial ambulance, aerobatic performer, crop duster and glider tug.

The Tiger Moth model is almost ready to fly, with just the installation of the electronics and final assembly being required. A comprehensive hardware pack includes all control rods and even cable and fittings to make scale flying/landing wires. The all balsa and light plywood airframe comes pre-covered in a sharp looking multi-colour scheme. Rounding out the airframe is a pre-painted fiberglass cowl, cockpit windsheilds and scale taildragger undercarriage. It is sure to be a hit at the field. Our Tiger Moth, just like the full scale, responds well to control input and is fairly easy to fly for a tail dragger. Its big "parachute" wings are very forgiving, with very tame stall characteristics, especially with a small bit of power applied.

Features:
• Almost-Ready-to-Fly - Just add your choice of motor, battery, and electronics
• Lightweight balsa and plywood construction
• Pre-covered in multi-color scheme
• Full hardware pack including flying wire material
• Pre-painted fiberglass cowl

My order arrived yesterday. Best purchase ever. For that price, the quality, incredibly. Thank you, thank you, once again thanks HOBBY KING. Still can not believe I rushed and bought while he was in stock.

Please take note: the motor specification with this kit is WRONG! IT REQUIRES A 3548 1000kv MOTOR.

This is a great kit. Be prepared to improvise from your box of spares though as the supplier does not seem to be able to get the hardware count quite right with everything. Others have reported insufficient rigging ferrules - I got twice the number I needed but was missing the 1.3mm rigging adjusters needed for the tiny elevator and rudder clevises. I ripped two screws out of each of 4 Corona servos which had just the right length of thread to chop the heads off and use instead. Made ferrules for them out of tiny aluminum tube. You have to use those little clevises for appearance and anything bigger that you can find ruins the scale look.

Had lots of spare 2.0mm adjusters left over though.

Lots of beefing up required around the firewall and U/C support platform. You will need to fit a decent plywood battery tray which also strengthens the front end. The curved area in front of cockpit needs some fillet support underneath or your will put your fingers through it.

Haven't worked out how to acccess the screw heads for mounting the plywood motor mount or how to screw it on with blind nuts fitted to both mating surfaces - looks as though I have some spare blind nuts. Not going to use it anyway as will make some aluminum tube standoffs instead.

The silly little foam wheels have b

One of the best purchases I've made in HK. The model arrived in Brazil in perfect condition, the model box inside another box for protection. Paper bubbles and fixed parts guaranteed the integrity of the model.
Just like in the pictures of the ad, great finish, and the only thing missing was the manual, which can be downloaded in file tab.
I'll build it and when ready, will post new pictures.
