Need for Fun
Hard to review a car that shudders along at a crawl till it overheats and stops. Have had a bit of look at it and there seems to be a problem with the alignment of the spur gear and the drive axle to the rear diff. Hopefully will get it sorted before it eats the spur. A disappointing Christmas gift for my daughter...Incredible super cool Buggy!!
Mega fun, drives like crazy, and has super power.
Super to take everywhere.
Even it is so small jumps in skate parks are no problem.
With the 1300mAh Lipo you have a good 10 min of fun.
The Buggy would deserve even 6 StarsGot This car for Christmas for my son as a cheap car for him to learn proper RC on.
So far, we've found that the front suspension is not super-strong, the mounting gave way on first impact - but since the spares are pretty cheap (though only in the global warehouse) just get a few plus a few hop-ups and you're good to go.
It's pretty light - so don't try to run it if too windy, I had it cartwheel along brighton front due to trying that :)
Only niggle I had was that the motor was wired up in the wrong seqence, so forward/reverse mix was off. Re-doing the connections to the motors sorted that quickly, and she runs wonderfully :)
A purchase I was really happy with, just as I've come to expect from HK :)While fast and fun, it simply is poor quality and doesn't last. The main spur gear is off-angle to start with so unless you rectify this you'll grind to a halt before the first pack is even flat.
Fix that (a 1mm spacer under the gear support does the job) and you might get to have a bit of fun before the diff gears strip.
Best of all, there is very rarely any stock of the parts. I've had this car several months and spent most of that time waiting for gears to be restocked. I finally thought I had bought some but the order changed to "backorder" which according to Hobbyking means "up to 30 days, but not guaranteed". Great backup service right there! Perhaps I'll get a working car again soon, or perhaps it will forever be a paperweight...Great buggy.Looks good, super fast and great price. I just wish more parts were available in the U.S. warehouses but haven't needed any yet!Excelent Car for all the ages...Potentially a good car but despite doing all that the forums say about checking gear mesh and tilting the spur gear mod before I ran it, it still stripped the spur in 30seconds on first run. Can't believe HK won't honour warranty and just send me a couple of replacement spur gears since its well known that half these cars are sent out faulty and trying to get hold of replacement spur gears on the UK is impossible rendering me with a car that cannot be used.
Disgusted with customer service and from now on will only buy from Hobbyking when no other alternative despite years of purchases through them. Lost a good customer over a 58pence item! What great fun, had problems when it arrived, one of the screws holding the motor to the chassis had no thread at all so the motor was not held up against the main gear. However once I'd put my own in it was off and running! We love it we even ran it in to he ocean twice and had to wash it out with distilled water and it's still working. amazing. I don't think it will last long (especially the way we treat it) but for the price it's great fun.Hi this is my first rc electic car, overall its a good car, i always drive it to max speed its really fun, people complain about its a bad car but if you hit a wall at 29mph of course it will end bad, i just crash once at max speed and i broke the front differential base, were the arm is attached also the steering servo i after one month went bad, i change the hex for 12mm so i can use any tire i can get, also i upgraded the differentials for hobbyking full metal so far so good.Completely unsatisfied with the overall quality of this RC car. I bought it for my 12 years old son I it lasted just one day. Here's the list of things broken after the second day: 1. front shock tower broken, 2. interrupt switch broken, sterring servo non operational. It's a complete disaster, I'd have preferred to spend some more money in a higher quality car.
