Failed from the beginning

Apr 29, 2019

I'm going to cut to the chase.....Value is excellent. Quality leaves a lot to be desired. First 2s pack the motor locked up. Replaced motor. Second 2s pack the pinion gear stripped out. Replaced pinion. However customer service is an A++++!!! I contacted HK and they sent me out a new buggy. After mixed feelings, I decided to give HK another try.

Tried a bit of drifting by putting tape on the tyres. Here is the result:

Brilliant little buggy, but not without flaws

Apr 11, 2019

First off for what you pay for the thing it’s amazing, my friend have spent more on tyco and nikko Rc cars for they’re kids and they’re no where near as fast or as strong as this. Admittedly compared to a traxxas slash it’s not the strongest but look what your paying for it.
I have however had some issues with this little buggy, first off the spring contacts in the tx were off centre so it wouldn’t switch on, but a quick open up and fettle and it started. Next as others have said the spur sticks out from Under the chassis, concerning but a bit of plastic and glue later and it’s guarded. I did also have a issue in which it threw both front tyres, by the look of it they’ve glued faces of the tyres not the beads, again not a bit issue but a little issue. The ther thing is that the servo savers awful soft so if you clip something too hard on an angle it locks the saver completely.
I know there’s a few negatives there, and if your completely new to rc or not of the mindset to fix issues as they arise this may not be for you.
But if you don’t mind putting the work in it’s a thoroughly entertaining little car that does donuts on a 2s and may be capable of time travel with a 3s. It corners well and with 2 packs worth of bashing under its belt all it’s needed so far is the tyres glued back on
Hope this helps

Nice little buggy with a few issues

Dec 26, 2018

The first thing I did while looking over the buggy was move the pinion gear farther rearward so it was centered on the drive gear. It was too far inward.
The ESC and ON/OFF switch are attached to the center frame with only double-sided tape. Zip ties were added to keep them in place.
The ON/OFF switch located under the body makes no sense. Since the body has to be removed to use the switch, skipping the switch and just connecting the battery would eliminate the switch, or the switch should have been located somewhere accessible with the body in place.
The drive gear sticking out of a slot in the bottom of the chassis has been noted by others and is a silly design deficiency. That should have been corrected early on so the bottom of the chassis is completely sealed.
There isn't much room for the battery wires and connector under the body so it took some work to make that fit correctly. And there's no hole in the body for the antenna so a small one was drilled.
Now for the good stuff. This little buggy really hauls. Using a fresh 1.7A battery I clocked it at 25mph with a radar gun. Pretty impressive for as small as it is. So while it certainly won't be as rough and tough as the bigger models, it should be fun for what it is.
