I find it hard to believe this motor has a max of 42 amps. I tried a 4s battery with a 12x6 prop and was hitting over just 40 amps. That is a little to close to the max withdraw fore me as I do like full throttle at times. This would be best on 3 cells.i have put this motor into a phoenix 1600 with a 50amp esc fly,s 4 times as good as the stock motor it,s a total different planeTested with 4400mAh 3S 40C, 55A Trust ESC, 13X6 MAS 3 Blade. Max (342W) 42A @6400RPM. Ran super smooth, only warm to the touch after run.Power !!!!

Everything went fine until flight no. 20. At flight 21 the motor wouldnt run, just stepping back and forth. An investigation showed 5 magnets out of alignment. The motor hasnt been run at overload, it has never been warmer than it could be held in the hand after a flight. Guess I just got a "Monday"-version. We took it apart and refitted the magnets, but one of the turns have that wrong dark color. So replacement is a must.
Until it died my son was very happy with the performance of this motor.
Will buy a new one!A great motor! Really well balanced, quiet, strong. I use it for an FPV49 v4 with 4S 5000mAh and 11x7 prop. It runs so smooth. Sure, this motor isn't the cheapest - but you get a high quality motor for your money!I bought one of these for a Multiplex Fun Cub that I built for a client and liked it so much I bought myself a Fun Cub and put it in that one too. Plenty of power to spare, which is what I like in my planes. Agree with a previous reviewer that this motor hums. It's got a cool sound to it that says powerful. If you're worried about a cheap machine screw for the prop adapter, go to any decent hardware store and buy an American made screw. But I've never had any issue of this kind with any of the Turnigy motors I've bought.Have this motor in a Dynam Trojan 1270mm , with a hobbyking 60 speedy and a 12-6 prop , around 50 flights so far no problems , bolts straight in with heaps of power over the old motor . Has changed the whole plane and made it a joy to fly . Killer motor !!!!I've only had one bad Turnigy motor out of the box in 124 orders, and it's not this one! This one is installed in an Allusive sailplane. Very sweet motor on all counts. Great presentation, pretty chrome finish, nice packaging, nice looking hardware, and smooth power on the bench. It almost hums... honest. I have it matched with a 55amp Trust, which should be plenty, swinging 12-6, 12-8, and 13-7 folders, three and four cells. I think the 12-6 or 8 on 4S will be the winner. Flying this weekend. More later. So far, five stars.Motor performs as good or better than its more expensive counterparts. The low review is due to the bolt on prop adapter, it is garbage! First prop adaptor broke the main screw when putting on a different propeller. I was barely past hand tight when it happened. It happened again on second prop adaptor again barely past hand tight. On the second one, i was replacing a chipped prop when my plane nose over right at the end of a landing. Power was off and prop was barely spinning and i noticed 2 of the 3 screws that attach the adapter to the motor had snapped in half! The nose over should not have caused that but the quality is so cheap. Basically you have 3 screws that are half the thickness of the 4 screws that other motors use. You will love the performance, but stay away from the bolt on adaptor.
