The Turnigy Rapid Orange series of high voltage hardcase lithium polymer batteries are here and ready to bring out the next level of power to your high-performance RC cars. Turnigy Rapid batteries are built to the highest of standards to provide competition-level performance, a greater cycle life, and a lower internal resistance. With features such as gold-plated balance leads, silver-plated discharge wires, and a reformulated matrix to allow you to safely charge them up to 4.35 volts per cell! The Rapid hardcase packs have been specially designed for racing, and punch out of corners on a race track, etc; they are not suitable for the prolonged discharge rates that you require for airplanes.
In addition to the higher nominal and max voltage, the Rapid series is engineered to take a high C rate discharge of up to an incredible 100C continuously. Basically, what this means is that these batteries will deliver a higher under-load voltage and a higher current draw; they will also provide a longer cycle life due to the lower operating temperatures of the pack.
The TURNIGY Rapid lithium polymer batteries are built with a LiCo nano-technology substrate complex and a carbon nanotube additive. This greatly improves the power transfer and makes the oxidation/reduction reaction more efficient. It also helps the electrons pass more freely from anode to cathode with less internal impedance. In short, there is less voltage sag and a higher discharge rate than a similar density lithium polymer battery.
The advantages of LiHV batteries are higher power and longer running times. LiHV batteries can be charged to 4.35V per cell, higher than normal LiPo batteries, which sit at 4.20V. For example, a 4S LiHV pack charged at 4.35V would give you 17.4V, whereas a LiPo battery on the same charge would only get to 16.8V. Each battery is equipped with heavy-duty silicone-covered cabling to minimize resistance and deliver a huge amount of current when you punch the throttle. Each pack also has a heavy-duty connector (see specs) and a JST-XH style balance connector, commonly found on all Turnigy batteries.
