Thia motor itself can handle 6s, 7s, 8s, 9s, and even 10s lipo inputs! But if you decide to use 8s, you have to have an ESC that's at least 120a capable and at least an 8a capable BEC. If you decide to go higher than that (9s or higher) you have to have an ESC that's at least 140a capable, at least a 12a capable BEC and extremely strong ALL carbon-fiber or METAL rotor fan EDF rotors!! The carbon fiber reinforced Nylon rotor fan Chang Sung EDF will NOT work with a 10s setup with this motor because of the extremely high thrust force the fans will produce and the much higher rpm's (way over the Max RPM: 45000 RPM) would be too great for the fan blades to take on at full throttle, causing the blades to simply rip away from the shaft adapter and may cause great damage to whatever the EDF is installed in! Unfortunately, the metal blades that Hobbyking sells require some machining of the bore hole to fit properly on all of their adapters, which, according to some, not worth the trouble of attempting. This motor really zooms through the air in my FLYFLY Bae Hawk. Does anyone think you could put 9S or maybe 10S with major throttle control? Or would it cook the motor?

I have Had a loss on the Fly Fly T45 the esc caught on fire?Lucky for me i had an external bec connected and managed to land the plane and put the fire out.I recovered the motor and re used it in a hobbyking bae Hawk. the esc that i had in the T45 was from hobby king it was a turnigy delux 120A,it must of had an issue as i could not get full throttle with this motor and obviously there must of been a problem with the esc.So i purchased a Castle creations Talon 120 HV esc for this motor and now the Bae Hawk from hobby king screems at full throttle.

Love this motor in the Changesun 90mm 12 blade EDF. Gives 3000watts of power on 8S with a great sound as mounted in a Freewing F-15. So good I bought 3 more for future use.

I ended up installing this motor with a 90mm changesung 12 blade fan and installed it in to my fly fly T45.I must say the motor runs smooth with out any issues and has plenty of thrust.I am very pleased with its performance.here is a video.

I used this motor in the "High Performance 90mm 12 blade fan" (Change Sun), powered by 8S 5000mAh Turnigy 40C Lipos. Starting power is 3000W, settling to ~2700W mid flight. Note that I limit the throttle output initially as 1500Kv is a bit high on 8S, so this avoids blowing the 120A ESC. After the Lipos have lost some of their initial charge I flick a switch on the Tx to enable full power. The motor is smooth and tough. It replaced a different motor that was recommended for that fan, but it blew on climb-out. No problems with this motor!

8S peak 3100watts/107amps settles to 2950watts/104amps
7S settles to 2400watts/94amps

The CS fan must be of the stronger version or the risk of fan failure is high. The fan must be secured to the adapter with a sandpaper washer in between to prevent slippage at high power (which will throw off any dynamic balancing you may have performed. Do not run fan at high power unless it has bee properly dynamically balanced or fan failure is likely. If you don't know how, get some help from and experienced EDF builder.
