My V1.1 Pocket Quad shipped 29 July came with no bootloader. There have been several shipped with this fault. I am still waiting for a response to my service request two days in.

I write flight software for this product along with two other guys on the RC Groups thread. One of the users thought to put a copy of my software up here along with Cesco's.

This is a great complement to my large Quad and RC Helicopters because I can fly it in my garden and even indoors! It's great fun! Stable and quick at the same time. Easy to fly! If you are somewhat experienced with RC, software and electronics it's very easy to download software and get it flying. One quality issue in my kit with a bad soldering, but it was easily solved with some fault tracing.... luckily I'm an electrical engineer...

PUMQ is my new favorite pet :-)

Very nice quad for flying indoors and outside on calm evenings. It has enough power for regular flying, i haven't tested flying aerobatics with it yet. I don't have Spektrums radios, so satellite receiver is bit useless for me.
It would be great if Hobbyking had some replacement parts for this even though I couldn't even get those props to crack by crashing the quad. I wouldn't recommend this as your first multirotor, but it would be very nice second or third. It needs correctly set up software and pid-tuning, that could be hard for a beginner.
Quality of this thing is very nice. I would recommend putting some glue behind all connectors on the board because they break off really easily.

The Quad is ok. Noob users have to look for help on Rcgroups forum and they can have fun with it. Biggest cons is for no spare parts and that is not PNF as the code Was have to be rewrited. Also the quality, my budled charger load lipos only to 3,95v! It should be 4,20v... But when is fly is rock solid :)

Finally got my pocket quad flying. Had a much more expierenced friend fix the electronic stuff. I could not get it done right. So PNF-status is NOT acceptable. This is more a trial and much errors version.

Once it's flashed right and all the settings are adjusted it flies like a wet dream. Very nice indeed. And stable as a big rock. Definately gonna mount foamy earplug-fenders underneath the motors.

4 stars for Quality, because of the issues with flashing the memory and so on. I am not a computergeek. And probabely never will be. ;-)

@HK Engineers: Consider updating the bootloader. My bootloader is the old one which waits 8 seconds before jumping to the user code. During this time it pulses the left rear motor which is presumably mapped to what the bootloader thinks is an LED?

HK didn't really do us any favors by labeling this a "PNF". Though it technically fits the definition, you can expect several hours of downloading software, uploading code, and tweaking the PID settings to really make this thing fly. Luckily, the folks over at RCgroups have done most of the work for you, but it's still not a 15 unbox and fly as "PNF" suggests.

Once through the programming and tuning though, this quad is a little gem. The multiwii software can be tuned to either be stable as a rock, an aerobatic flipping machine, or it can be both by just flipping a switch. mine flies very well, has been very crash resistant, and it costs less than most of the name-brand quads which are far less capable.

This doesn't seem to have enough power other than for a brief hover, I used the sketch in the files section the updated one. Barely able to leave the ground at full throttle on a full battery, very disappointed with this my ladybird is way more stable and agile

@HK Engineers:

... Consider using motors with a shaft diameter matching most of the other nano/micro quads (1mm?). Current propellors perform poorly.

Add O-rings to the assembly kit. See RCGroups thread but these are used top and bottom to hold motors.

Thread name is "HobbyKing Pocket Quad Ultra-Micro DSM2 MultiWii" Quadcopter

@HK Engineers:

As you are on back order please consider reducing the series drive resistor value to around 100Ohm and put a diode across the motors. You way also consider putting a pulldown resistor on the FET gate of about 10K.

Abandon the current battery connector and use LOSI Micro-T.

You have a very active user base so it is wise to take their comments positively.

Thanks
