I was more than a little disappointed in this plane. While it is attractive enough, the underlying structure has proven to be inadequate. This has proven to be true not only for flying, but for building it the way I want.
I, personally like pinned hinges, but the material into which the hinges are placed have too little material to accept them. The balsa triangle into which they are seated is a little over 1/4" deep and backed by plywood, so you can't slot it for pinned hinges. Speaking of hinges, the hing slots are excessively wide, 2-3".
Almost the entire structure is made of plywood, the metric equivalent of 1/16". This makes the structure exceedingly vulnerable to damage from the inevitable hard landings.
The landing gear mount is a particular source of trouble with this plane. A single piece of the metric equivalent of 1/4" ply is held between 2 Bulkheads of thinner ply, edge glued only, front and rear. Normally this might be strong enough, but the mounting plate is not nearly long enough, to handle the leverage exerted on it when landing. I have taken it to the field 3 days, and gotten in a total of 5 flights. Each day I have returned with the gear knocked out of the plane.
The rest of the structure is equally inadequate. The last time the gear came out, it rebounded and took out a piece of structure, on the side, which I have yet to figure out how to repair.
Were this plane offered as ready to cover, I might consider another one, since I could reinforce key places, but as it comes, it's just plain weak.

Good looks and size

I have not built this plane yet. It is a direct replacement for one I had purchased from general hobby. Same exact plane except for color. I gave it one less star on quality due to the aluminum landing gear. It is a little on the weak side after the plane is fitted out with the running gear, (servos, batteries, switches, fuel tank and plumbing, engine and mount, prop, screws nuts and bolts, etc.) It is a very good looking plane. And the proportions are very capable of lively flight performance. I would not recommend this build or level of performance for a beginner. If you have some experience with mid to high level aircraft, you will enjoy it.

It's a well built plane for a very affordable price. Mine came with a bent aileron, had to use heat gun to try and get it straight. Thag was the only issue, for the rest: great value and good quality

just received my MXS plane , came in a very strong transit box, so no worries about transit damage, on initial checking it seems to be to a very high standard ( Goldwing ?) all carbon accesories, airframe neatly covered with stickers supplied loose for you to apply if you want to , all fittings and fixings supplied in seperate bags and all seem to be of good quality, for the money it seems to be a bargain, the only slight niggle is no paper instructions or instructions on a disc, but this is covered by checking the files section, cant wait to assemble and fly the thing .
