I have fallen in love with this plane and it flies beautifully. Bipes are sometimes tricky in crosswinds so is the gladiator. Less winds are ideal to fly it. Trimmed Grass is ideal surface but a hard surface will be fine too. Paint scheme has to be applied , it could have come pre applied.

I got this plane in a HK flash sale as it looks lovely. There was an issue in that the screws retaining the dummy engine (which the instruction manual said would be for the user to screw in place) were screwed in very tight and almost impossible to undo without stripping the head. I did get them both out but one of them tore out its mounting point in the process. This was fixed easily enough with UHI Por but the screw flew off and was lost and HK support couldn't just send a single replacement screw so I had to botch it with a servo mounting screw that although not quite the same type, does seem to be holding. The good news though is that this is a beautiful looking little plane and that flies beautifully too. I watched the Youtube video by Stuart from HK on how to apply weathering. I painted bronze acrylic over the chocolate brown cowl and exhaust, painted the prop blades cream as per the Shuttleworth Collection Gladiator, and I followed the advice of Adam from AV8R Youtube channel and used elastic silver thread for the rigging wires. The Gladiator doesn't like crosswinds and it with its stalky legs, short nose and high centre of mass it will nose over very easily too on grass, though it doesn't fuss when it does. It's not a plane for crashing hard, being of delicate construction, but it will take-off and 3 point land beautifully and flies very well. All in all, it is a great plane for learning how to handle taildraggers with scale position undercarriage. And it looks fabulous in the air. Flown at scale speeds with a few aerobatic manoeuvres thrown in it probably gives about 6 mins flying on a 2200mah 4S. I love it.
